"the flutter in my stomach when i feel hopeful"

Didn't that just give you goosebumps?!

My friend Lauren (you remember her, I talked about her once or twice) has started up her ADORABLE blog, "Life is short... love is forever." I highly suggest visiting my cute cute cute-as-a-button girl friend! That's where I saw and fell in love with the above. She added things to it, including this post title.

i love it. And I love Lauren.

sweetness from my boy.

darling friend leaves in the middle of the night for work.
we got in a little [okay pretty big] fight last night. :(

we are chatting on gmail and he just said this to me:

"when i left, i sat down beside you and touched your were asleep, so i just sat there with you for a minute."

simple words but it just touched my heart.

I'm sooo sorry for our fight.

I'm sorry I'm hard headed and didn't hug you immediately instead.

Forgive me?

love you mostly. xo

once upon a time...

i used to sniff him in the morning and smile.
i told him he smelt like sleep.

"time on my hands... could be time spent with you"

for as long as i can remember, i've hardly enjoyed weekends off.
i always worked 2 jobs... mostly as a favor, and naturally with my shopping addiction; the extra cash was nice.

i thought i hit the jackpot when a mon-fri 8-5 job fell in my lap, paying me more to do [essentially] less then the news station ever did in 3 years. Even AFTER i put in my two weeks at the station, i worked a month straight with no days off at both jobs to help out anchoring the show i left behind. I can't say no. There was no breaks and no time to really enjoy having weekends off, because shortly after that i started helping out 4 days a week at a friend's restaurant. Most times, i loved "playing waitress." I adored my regulars, most of my co-workers, and my bosses who became family.

tomorrow will be the first day i don't work both jobs. I am no longer going to "play waitress" and this both breaks my heart and yet.... maybe finally i can stop and enjoy life. I've worked it away sometimes, it seems.

In fact, i stayed so long at the restaurant because i felt guilty thinking about how hard my bosses work day in and day out (it's opened 7 days a week 11-11. Can you imagine? it's a mom and pop place, so just two bosses. that's it.) and i wanted to ease their work load as much as possible. More than that, we had fun. Like when Robert brought us lasagna and made it for us. It was a slow night and we all sat down and took a break and ate like a family. I'm going to miss the burrito breakfasts on Saturdays before we opened... the shared groans when that one crazy regular walked in... This year's Superbowl: the 3D glasses we passed out to the kiddies & the pause of silence as everyone took in the commercial... I'm going to miss all that.

i would have never met Travis, had he not walked into our restaurant.
I got to see him and his friends graduate from their training at the Air Force Base here.

below: me and Robert at Falls Fest where I decorated our booth

It's the end of an era.

soon, i hope my guilt and sadness (isn't that weird? to be sad about leaving "manual labor?") will be replaced with early morning coffee out on the porch/Actually catching a live band hit the stage/Not worrying about asking off for said sporting event on the weekend/time with my family/time with love, my love.

i believe in hugs. that they can change anyone's day. and always.

“Oh, I love hugging. I wish I was an octopus, so I could hug 10 people at a time!”

Happy Birthday to my Darling Friend xo

34 years ago, William Davidson Maxham was born...
possibly to put up with me. ;)

Since he works in the middle of the night, I decided to give him a little surprise when he woke up this morning... starting with a sign on the door.

along with his gifts, my friend Laura gave me this great idea to buy him birthday snacks, things with Chip in it. (on air, he goes by Chip) So i rounded up his favorite chips (Hot cheetos!), Chips Ahoy Cookies, [and since I call him Max...] Pepsi Max. :) i threw in a huge bag of M&M's because... well that's a special inside joke with us ;)

and a little bday balloon & plant.
Casa di M needed one. :)

My momma is cooking him a birthday dinner tonight that includes brisket (his choice) and chocolate cake! i can't wait to spend time with my family and the birthday boy.

Writing on the Wall.

Darling Friend halfway joking and probably more serious said, I know what you're doing/thinking most of the time, through Facebook.

Oh, those facebook statuses.

Out catching the game with a group of friends, my friend Joe sweetly asked me how my heart was? And then i remembered earlier in the day my status said, "Micaela's sick in the heart."

Oh, those facebook statuses.

Glamour's Married Jake had this to say about it all, and it CRACKED me up:

"Facebook is one of the weirdest phenomena ever to hit my generation.

All of a sudden, you have this incredible intimacy with people you haven't seen in twenty years, some of whom you were never that intimate with to begin with. You know whose kids puked last night. You know who loves oatmeal. (Seriously, someone wrote that this morning: I love oatmeal! I'm like: dude, who cares? I wouldn't even write that in my journal, let alone share it with all the five hundred people I know.) And you know who is battling depression (people are open about it) and obesity and divorce and great terrible grief."

Because there's a Gigi in us all, read on to see what Jake says about our boyfriend's looking up their exes online...

And while you're at it, be my friend on FB? Krissa did! if you don't know her, do yourself a favor and check out her cute cute blog, Randomness. Don't we all love Random people? I do!!!!

*truth be told, sometimes i have a hard time saying something witty on my status.

anyone else have this problem? here's a cute one, next time you go blank:

"your wall or mine?" ;) ha!

“When real people fall down in life, they get right back up and keep walking.”- carrie bradshaw

and hopefully like carrie, in really fabulous shoes!

heels are my addiction.
i've said it before, i KNOW i will have made it, when i buy a pair of manolos.
or like SATC movie, my Big can just propose to me with a pair.

Thank God I have been blessed to know how to walk (and work it! let it be said) in HIGH heels. I say God, and really mean it. One thing I didn't get from my Momma :)
The higher, the better- i need all the height a girl can get.

these blackberry pics do NOT do them justice. I wish you could see the texture: ladies, they are genuine suede... so for all those that think animal print is a bit tacky (trust me, i thought so too!) these are the exception.

i may have pranced around them as i showed them off to darling friend... double ooh- i look tanned from yesterdays game ;)

they came just in time to get dressed up for Max's birthday tomorrow. I'm thinking white dress?

*speaking of the boy's birthday... i just set up his birthday pressies, so when he wakes up, hopefully he'll be surprised! :) details tomorrow...

xo your high heeled Micaela

TX RANGERS & the Yankees

big hair, big cheeks, BIG SMILE: CHECK!
My first TX Rangers game was on Memorial Day. It was amazing to have the WHOLE ball park recognize a moment of silence for our men and woman in service. AMAZING.

Me and twinkie's husband had a really great time!!! AWESOME seats, perfect SUMMER weather. I couldn't believe i was FINALLY getting to see my Ranger's bf Michael Young in action!!! and my two other faves-- Ian Kinsler & Marlon Byrd.

you can't go to a game without a hot dog!
& since i don't eat them... here's philip enjoying

And although my Rangers did not win and lost embarrassingly bad to those yankees... it was pretty cool to see A-ROD and Jeter. Shh.... i'm ashamed to admit that ;).

everything happened in our section: little boy caught the homerun next to us and a couple of rows up- this guy proposed to his fiancee.

dear boy-i-will-marry,

i don't really think it's cheesy to propose to me at a live sporting event, because as you will know, I love sports, espec. my teams! PLEASE just make sure it's the team i love, like the Dallas Mavericks or Texas Rangers- and if you could somehow get my said favorite player to be involved somehow... like hold the sign or something? then it wouldn't be so cheesy. I'm just saying.... love, me xo

Rangers, this will DEF. not be the last game we share together. We are already making plans for July 4th weekend... just so you know.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Philip for a very memorable Memorial Day, indeed!

*see more of my pics via my facebook and if you're on fb, you should def. friend me!!!!

and a terrible need to give it."

ALL MY Affection to YOU! XO

Ranger Danger!

HAPPY FRIDAY my lovies!!! and HAPPY 3 Day weekend for us lucky few that get to enjoy one. After 3 years working in news with NO holidays off, I'm going to enjoy this one :)

My brother-in-law is taking me to my very first ever RANGERS game!!!

darling friend has been wanting to take me to one, but alas, since he works in the News Business he works Monday. [Max- i love me some Rangers- as you can tell by the pic below- BUT! The Rangers got NOTHING on my Mavericks! Thank you THANK YOU for taking me to see them play TWICE! and on my birthday, no less. OH, and i didn't name my puppy Ranger, for obvious reasons! *wink]

side note : my dear boosies, you look lopsided and low. You may be lop-sided but you are def. not low because you have NOTHING that can go low. love, disappointed me.

AHHHH!! yes!!! so I get to spend the holiday watching my Rangers bf Michael Young hopefully win again!!! I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!

doesn't twinkie have the best husband????

you remember the feeling.

My Momma watched "Twilight" with me last night.
(I was surprised she liked it so much)
it might have had something to do with her comparing their love to Romeo & Juliet.

Really, i think it had something to do with Edward.

We oohed and ahhed over Robert Pattison, who she compared to James Dean.
During the movie, my very cute Mother said, "I want a vampire of my own."

GORGEOUS. I couldn't get over how much this movie just reminds you of teenage love-- the thrill of wanting to go to school to see the boy you had a crush on. When he walks you to your classes and the first time he puts his arm around you in public.

you remember the feeling :)

In the middle of...

It's Thursday... so here are a few excerpts I dog-eared to share with you lovies:

"Her collarbone was a mystery.
'I knew you were beautiful under there," I said,

and this was the first spot on her I kissed."

"I looked at her, and for just a splinter of a minute saw the woman she used to be-- one who knew where to find her smile, instead of having to rummage for it; one who always messed up punch lines and still got a laugh; one who could reel me in without even trying."

American Idol made me consume TOO much food.

i've been good at going to Spin Class Mondays and Wens. (i play waitress Thurs/Fri nights straight from my big girl job, so i can't go then)

lately, us girls have been running [just shy of] a mile non-stop. YES, this is in the texas heat AFTER an hour at spin. It kicks my bum EVERY.TIME. but it feels good to keep going, and pushing myself to continue.

i feel really refreshed and strong.

that is... until i go to my parents house, eat spaghetti for dinner, along with 3 bagels with butter.

oh and then EXCITED about the Idol surprise finale (Kris is SUCH a CUTIE!) that we "celebrated" with more food.

i may have had 2 oreos, along with huge handfuls of white cheddar cheetos.

my work-out may have gone down the drain... BUT think about how much worse it would have been had i not worked out, right? okay, so I'll keep telling myself that.

my family, we like to eat.

We all smile the same.

Pappa emailed more pics of my Momma's birthday celebration.

the boys with Momma :) Matt (maddie's bf), Philip (twinkie's husband) and my darling friend.
We wore matching MAVS t-shirts cos Dallas was playing.
Momma insisted on a pic :)

i love my parents! i love my family.
they make me happy.

Pretty sure Momma closed her eyes real tight when she made her birthday wish before blowing out the candles Max had rushed to get. In our hurry to surprise her and pick up the cake, we forgot all about candles!!! :) Max saved the day!

I'm pretty sure, knowing my sweet Momma, that she probably wished for each of us to be happy.

some days, ESP MONDAYS! I feel like this:

[though i have a ridiculous cramp and am praying it doesn't bother me in Spin Class in oh-- 30 minutes!!!]

i'm happy!
i have sunshine above my head
because of HIM.

i can't stop smiling and thinking of my Max. :)

your happy happy Micaela xo

i am girl who loves pointed heels but these, these are wikid enough to get married in!

Joanna shared this wedding day bliss: the groom HAND-SEWED his bride's dress.

Love it, but the heels, the heels I am in love with! that would easily be my something blue.

Rock of LOVE, indeed!!!!

Lovies, we had an AH-MAZING time at the Bret Michaels Rock 'Em Sock 'Em weekend. Can i just say what a true entertainer he is? a GREAT concert. Gorgeous (i dig the eye liner & sweaty arms) and he truly seems like a nice guy.

AND!!!! HE pointed at ME!!!! i promise he did, i was the only girl in view at the time in our section, cos darling friend held me up while i stood on the railing in my heels.

It was a great summer night inside a huge tent with Bret Michaels and my boy who grew up to the 80's hair bands.
as he joked today, he IS my Rock of Love. ;)

and of course with my Rockin' twinkie lol
i was SWEATING at the end of the show.

"Don't need nothin' but a good time
How can I resist
Ain't lookin' for nothin' but a good time
And it don't get better than this"

*we also saw this movie. I really liked the puzzle and history elements. Of course the backdrop of the City i loved was a plus. Ewan McGregor at his best. Tom, a given.

Didn't sleep well last night...

because a little sweet puppy took half my pillow :)

Maverick slept well! but Mav can sleep ANYWHERE...

case and point: as i was catching up on your lovely blogs with a glass of wine and a side of insomnia last night- she fell asleep on darling friend's back pack in his office.

Ps. Look at her pink little ears! they've gotten so floppy since we have to wait to get her groomed.

he illuminates everything in me.

The timbre begins to fade. The edge dulls. The hurt lessens.

Every love is carved from loss.

Mine was. Yours is. Your great-great-great-grandchildren's will be.

But we learn to live in that love

-everything is illuminated, jonathan safran foer

*wonderful wonderful quote seen on the wonderful wonderful una bella vita, who just celebrated her 1 year!

Lovies, I hope you have an amazing one!!!

tonight i was supposed to go to my guy friend's Assignment Night (he's a pilot and finds out which jet he's getting and where he'll be stationed) where i'm promised fun, free beer + pizza, but alas, I'm not FULLY over my cold so... :( not at all the best times to make a first impression and mingle with a roomfull of gents.

but tomorrow, tomorrow is the BRET MICHAELS concert!!! that I'm looking forward to :)
have a ROCKIN' weekend where I'll leave you with this:

written all over you

(and i think i looked everywhere...)

*ooh la la words via la vie en bleu.

i finally saw Paris, Je T'aime. It took my breath away

The one of the older couple on the brink of signing papers-- there was something still very intimate between them, sad & yet content.

But the EMT story... that was my fave. That one brought tears to my eyes.

Someday I'll share my own little story with Paris... amongst the cobblestone rues of possibility.

Happens Every Day

It took me literally a day to read this memoir by Isabel Gillies. To be fair, I couldn't wait to read it after seeing this promising preview in my February issue of Vogue. I had been waiting to get my hands on it since.

It's hard to imagine that our hearts are capable of walking away from the fairy tale life we have. This book is her very personal intimate account of that very heart ache. It was painful to read, both physically and emotionally, she shared her story so well. But it also filled me with hope:

"Daddy looked over my shoulder, put his hand on my head, and said,"Wanna hear something famous that Adlai Stevenson once said about Eleanor Roosevelt at her funeral?"

"Yeah," I said.

He said that she was the kind of person who would rather light a candle than curse the darkness.

It has become my motto. "

She spoke about the only poems she's ever recognized as sublime, one he had given her at the start of their love affair. It's a John Ashbery poem called "At North Farm."

"Somewhere someone is traveling furiously toward you,
At incredible speed, traveling day and night,
Through blizzards and desert heat, across torrents,
through narrow passes.

But he will know where to find you,
Recognize you when he sees you.
