a gift from my husband-to-be.

isn't this red apple tea kettle the cutest thing you ever did see? i thought so, so when i saw Cori of mushroom & moss vintage did a shop update and mentioned this darling kettle, we had to have it. Actually, it's an engagement gift from my husband-to-be.

Did i ever tell you that Max's grandfather had a running apple orchard right outside Atlanta, Georgia? The property was bought at the end of the Civil War. In fact, the house they owned was once occupied by the Union Army.

Remember my last name-to-be? there's a street there, leading to the house.

i fell in love with this red painted house with a front porch and swing... i felt it's history and the memories kept on the walls, on the book cases. i loved seeing pictures of my future husband when he was in grade school. I loved hearing the stories of how his grandfather built machines to harvest during the season. How he would stay with his grandparents during summer break when he was an undergrad at Georgia Tech.

we dreamt of us settling down here one day and making it our home.

it's here on the grounds next to this beautiful house we envision a smaller wedding ceremony. With fairy lights and love... a lot of love. A small gathering of our family and closest friends. We'll do it big in Texas for the official wedding, but it's this intimate setting i am already dreaming of....

I would love a small intimate wedding with random odd tea cups and mismathced saucers on the tables, and tea pots just like yours. i am sure your wedding will be magical :)

1. I LOVE that tea pot!
2. Nothing is nicer than a big front porch. You can sit there and drink tea from your pretty pot.
3. A simple ceremony in the garden, with fairy lights and love? Absolute perfection.

Wonderful post, Micaela! xo

Aaaaahhhhh SOOPAH-CUTE! {Wow, I think that was the first time I ever spelled it liked that - and said it like that out loud, alone, on my couch lol}

This post just made me all kinds of happy, Micaela! Oh, and your comment on my blog totally reminded me that I still have to send you that Okkervil River album! I'm getting on that, I swear!

also - for the valentines, i just put out all of my supplies and let them talk to me. sounds cheesy, right?? but i just start cutting and gluing and suddenly - bam!- there's a card creation sitting in front of me. good luck, lovie!

That teapot is adorable! I love h ow it even has the little stem and leaf on the lid!

The red house is gorgeous, and I could imagine sitting on a porch like that in the evening with some iced tea (it's the VA in me) and listening to the crickets chirp. I think a wedding there would be beautiful, and they way you describe it makes it sound so magical!

And, you had asked about the plate hangers. I don't think I've seen them in Target, but you can get them at Wal-Mart near the lighting type stuff, and I've also gotten them from Lowe's or Home Depot.

Aww, and that road actually leads to your house? :) That's all kinds of amazing!

I've never been a big tea drinker (til recently, and I'm still working it), but in my "future things," I have an elephant shaped teapot.

I got your letter and I LOVE your suggestion about posting about it. I'll definitely have to get around to doing that! :D
