i wish i could show you all the amazing photographs from Nov. 26, 2010 when i married my best friend. i have never been so happy to say two words to anyone in my life than saying "i do" to my soul mate in the church i grew up in, in front of our family and closest friends. It was simply magical. God's greatest blessing for my life.

we also used these vintage door knobs from Very Fine House to tie down white and clear balloons during the reception (they're special because kate used them at her own beautiful wedding)

as we were walking in the freezing virginia cold this evening, i decided he should have his little christmas gifts early:

is the guy in your life hard to shop for? mine is! i had told him to send me some gift ideas and then i get an email who's website headline is "C-3PO never looked this good... Or was this waterproof." I click on the link and it takes me to this:

hmmm... i did ask him what he wanted for Christmas! if the guy in your life is a star wars fan, how amazing of a girlfriend/wife would you be donning this swimsuit?

in all seriousness though, my husband truly is the hardest person to shop for. He never needs anything or wants anything like me. The warm outwear was seriously on his christmas wish list! ha but what fun is  opening that on christmas day? it's like when you were little and you'd get sweaters for christmas. So i was okay with just giving him these quote "christmas presents" when he took out our furry little dog babies tonight. 

and plus i was really excited about the hat!

a week ago, i got me a husband.

in just a few hours this time last week in fact.

fittingly, our marriage license came in the post today...

my husband went to north carolina for the day to spend some time with his (our) adorable niece and nephew. he'll be back later this evening and i'm going to surprise him with this:

our first Christmas tree together! i told him i wanted a pink or silver tree to which he made faces. he's lucky Target didn't have one in a bigger size! i'm in love with our first little christmas tree.

p.s. i'm off to have dinner with his parents (it's pizza night!). His papa called to make sure i'd still be coming over since max is not going to be there and when i answered the phone he said, "hello mrs. maxham!" i love it. i adore my in-laws!

my christmas cards.

i fell in love with these blue letter press accordion cards. the inside reads "May your home be filled with the sights and sounds of the Christmas Season." 

and if you were on my mailing list last year, you probably got one of Diana's gorgeous Christmas themed note cards-- i lurved them so much, i had to pick me up some more for this year!

my favorite addition this year will be sticking on my new holiday address labels... !

something borrowed.

i don't think it's a secret how much i love my dearest friend Claire. she's amazing isn't she? 

if you know claire, you know her carrie bradshaw love for expensive & fabulous heels. My dearest friend sent me her two fanciest pairs of shoes for my wedding day as my "something borrowed." 

as much as i love heels, i've never owned a pair that actually had it's own dust bag. 

This was a huge gift, a huge show of affection that she loves me as much as i love her. We're not talking any pairs of shoes... we're talking her Christian Louboutins and never worn Jimmy Choos (remember her post about these beauties?) it's a BIG deal.

unfortunately, as you can see from the photos below... this cinderella's feet are a tad bit smaller *sad face* i wanted to cry when i walked around my parent's kitchen, hoping to make them magically work (even my pappa was suggesting perhaps getting those gel grippers!).

even though they didn't fit, i had to express my absolute love for claire for sending these to me (right after coming back from Guatemala no less!) and trusting me with her babies on my magical day.

I love her more than words.

ps. Claire also sent me coffee with her beloved Saints team on the package from when she was in Louisiana. I opened it the night max's parents came over to my parent's and met for the first time! special, indeed.

With a happy heart i just wanted to thank you all for the lovely happy comments to my "surprise! we got married!" post. Each one has meant so much to us!

we got engaged this past january and knew our dream wedding would be a small cozy ceremony (i even went back and forth deciding on a destination wedding or even a courthouse wedding a la sex and the city).

our wedding was exactly what we had hoped for... a beautiful chilly autumn evening shared with our family and closest friends in Texas. 30 people we love gathered in the church i grew up in to celebrate us. To watch us become husband and wife. i wore vintage with (made in italy) j.crew strappy sandals and he was handsome in a suit and a smile i will never forget as i walked down the aisle towards him.


i promise to have more photographs and show you the charming little details as soon as the photos come in, but i wanted to say thank-you. with all my heart, thank you! xo

SURPRISE!!!
