play me a song?
either one that you can't stop listening to or one that means something to you... reminds you of something personal; something felt. or something you dance to in a small dark kitchen.
anything.
here's one for you, from me.
this is one i might listen to on one of those nights with a glass of wine.
but it also reminds me of the epic roadtrip from Virginia to El Paso. somewhere passing through a deserted town in the middle of the night i fell in love with cat power all over again thanks to a mix edward made me of her greatest hits.
leave your song in a comment below and tell me what it reminds you of? or leave the powerful lyric you love from it. anything.
i can't wait to hear a bit of the soundtrack to your life.

"oh i'm in love for the first time. don't you know it's going to last?"
that lyric basically sums up my feelings on my love life right now. and please watch the video because it gives me goosebumps every single time.
I'm loving Mumford & Sons, Hold on to What You Believe:

diamonds and pearls by prince. my favourite song of all time. i can't get enough of it. it makes me feel a rainbow of emotions from heart ache, to heart swels, to hope and being in love.
Oh my. In terms of Cat Power, "Good Woman" is the song that brings me to tears every time. My favorite song of all time is Nightswimming by REM, which floods me with nostalgia and longing. One of the first cds I sent you has most of my sad/intense/lovestruck songs on it. Iron & Wine's The Trapeze Swinger might take the cake for me, though, come to think of it. It's haunting and can make me cry just thinking about it. And now I want to listen to sad songs. I love you Micaela!
i love this topic!! music is probably the most important thing in my life and is ALWAYS on at my house. i have so many songs that represent so many feelings and phases of life. but one that immediately came to mind was the postal service's "such great heights."

for me, this song will always take me back to the biggest turning point in my life, where i let go of everything and everyone i knew, and ventured off on my own. i think this has been on my mind lately, because i just talked about it on my blog a couple days ago {how i moved to san francisco on my own}. it was such a powerful experience and this song was sort of my theme song at the time.
One of "my songs" is "The Scientist" by Coldplay. I actually used one of the lines in yesterday's post, so you can check it out... if you want. :)

"can't breathe" leona lewis
my favorite song on her album, exactly how i once felt, kinda sometimes still feel, you never get over it right?
posting it on my blog now sigh.
the last song that made me cry was someone like you by adele, but i've been listening to alabama song by the doors a lot recently. it reminds me of a lot of weird parties that i went to last summer...

Everlasting Love by U2!!! I can listen to this rare cut 24/7! It reminds me of my dear friend, Paul, who never fails to keep me in check ( A new Gucci bag? Unnecessary) and fills my heart with brotherly love..

50 Cent; lil bit. "All a (bleep) really needs is a lil bit, not a lot baby girl, just lil bit. We can head to the crib in a lil bit." HA! Reminds me of summers, meeting up with you, Marianne, Yarei, and varies people at Tobys! If I was in my car, I'd drive there and back with my windows down, smoking a cigarette, listening to some good ole 50 Cent. ;) I hear it now and I can't help but smile. I'm a dork, but I love it!!
Right now I'm loving "You are the Best Thing" by Ray LaMontagne. If we didn't already have a song I might have considered this for every song at our wedding!

this song is different than what i usually listen to. but there's one chord that it hits that feels the same way my love feels for my jake.
ps: i love catpower!
I've been listening to a lot Christian music and I love this band (and even better its acoustic!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hax9bJAkHmU The reason I love isn't hard to figure out ;)
I'll be in ElPaso/Las Cruces next week breathing the same air as you
You know me- I could easily turn this into the LONGEST.COMMENT.EVER. So instead of trying to name a song that means something to me or a lyric that stands out to me, I'll just share my newest favorite love song- "My Girl" by City and Colour. It's not a 'new' song, but it's new to me. :)

There was a tv show called ED that ran from 2000-04 that I absolutely loved. Tom Cavanaugh and Julie Bowen were the main characters (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0247091).
It's also where Justin Long started his career. Anyway, there was a scene towards the end where Ed finally proposes to Carol.
It's such a great scene and the song in the background stayed with me. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_eDgDysUME)
I loved the fun, playful, sillyness in it and it reminded me of me and what I wanted in a relationship. That's how they all should be, right?! And I still haven't lost sight of that scene in my head.
Sorry so long, I guess that's why I have a blog of my own! :) The song is by the Old 97's and it's called Question. Here it is without the scene. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEwFik6ObJs&feature=related)
Hope you enjoy!

it makes me happy. : )
ozuna,
YES that's exactly how it should be! and that scene... classic! awww you're going to make a great husband to some lucky wife :)
the flashlight made me giggle! being silly and in love is the best isn't it?
btw, justin long-i love him! didn't i tell you once randomly i was watching him on some late night talk show and his mannerisms were SO YOU. :)
and um.. aren't i the queen of leaving long comments on your blog? tit for tat as from one of my favorite old tv shows.
I listen to music in Spanish anything Luis Miguel my favorite ...he's a Mexican singer he brought back the boleros in such a romantic and special way. Maybe you've heard him
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VwxuKZMmT0
i think you DID tell me that at old town once. if i remember correctly, it was at old town and you said you saw him on leno. and i think i had the same reaction that i do now, whaaat, really? i guess i could live with that. his mannerisms don't appear to be incredibly awkward.
