Wanting to Know you Wens.

it's absolutely freezing here in El Paso. Earlier, it was only 9 degrees but feels like -6 with the wind chill and snow.

The wind has been howling outside since last night and i felt like meg in the beginning of "a wrinkle in time."

and to make it worse, there's rolling blackouts across el paso to ease the power outages in certain parts of the city.  of course i heard this news after i put beer bread in the oven so hopefully we won't lose power before that.

when it's cold outside, there's nothing like the smell of bread cooking! i could live on bread and cheese alone. confession:i made a loaf yesterday morning and by bedtime it was all gone. {max may have had two bites}

it's so easy to make though! and just so my tummy knows, i'm making this loaf to surprise our neighbors with.

what about you?

what's the weather like in your part of the world?

(please include where you live!)

I can't believe it's that cold in Texas! It's about 15 degrees here without the windchill and we got a bunch of snow last night. Stay warm m'dear!

Oh I heard about your snow! Everyone I know in El Paso loves it though. Its freezing here in Vegas too. We got the outside of the system so no snow but below freezing and SUPER windy. Enjoy your bread :)

Here in Fort Collins, CO it is FREEZING! Our predicted high is 8 degrees, but I'm doubtful that we'll hit it. The sun is shining, which is quite deceptive, but the minute you step outside your face starts to freeze. I'm ready for warmer temps!

I'M IN CHICAGO AND IT'S NUTS!!!! we have gotten 21 inches of snow since 3 pm yesterday. we're expecting -40 degree below zero wind chills after this. our roads are covered in inches of snow, with snow drifts that are taller than children. our street hasn't been touched by plows and with the upcoming wind, we don't think plows are going to help us very much.

In Victoria, BC, the sun is shining and it is icy cold. It's lovely and frosty. I think they said on the radio this morning that it's -2 degrees celsius.

As soon as I read that you'd put beer bread in the oven I giggled cause I knew you'd made it yesterday--hahaha! But it's SO addictive and so delicious and really hard to stop. The buttery and salty crust is the end of me! It's thanks to YOU (via Jessie) that I know how to make it! I giggled again at "just so my tummy knows--this loaf is to surprise the neighbors." heehee. Maybe they'll share!

It is 53 in San Francisco, though I suspect it will get a little warmer as it gets later (it's only 9:30 am here). I cannot believe it is so freezing in El Paso and you have to know that I'm a little jealous! Marianne posted pics yesterday of the snow in WF and I texted her saying I was going for a run on the beach--so funny, right?

Love you! Enjoy your cozy day!

I think I might have to make this today. It's cold and sunny here in Vancouver. But by cold I mean still above freezing. That would be about 5º...Celsius!

It is FREEZING here, as it always is this time of the year. I would like to say that warm bread would be a perfect cold day treat but if I did that up here I would gain 25 lbs... ha

I love break and cheese (or cheese and crackers). It's stinkin' hot here! So muggy and the humidity is sky high. I sweat just sitting on my sofa and I try not to succumb to using our air con.

SNOWY! We had a snow day today due to the blizzard last night, I made Jus walk me to CVS last night and it was so windy the snow felt like sand hitting our faces.
I can't believe it's so cold in Texas! I think the weather just thought you'd miss your east coast winter :)

It's not quite as hot here in Cape Town, South Africa, as in Australia, but it's still 34 degrees Celsius and a bit humid.

What I'd REALLY love now is one of those glorious thunderstorms the people up in Johannesburg and Pretoria get in the late afternoon, but alas, Cape Town is rather mild in that regard.

Good luck with the cold and thanks for the recipe! Think it will go down just as well on a summers day like today.

Hey Micaela,
I never been to Texas but I always pictured it woul be like in Western movies - and very warm! But yesterday I already saw in the news that many parts of the US are troubled through snowstorms.
I am from southern Germany, it's about 20 degrees here and it's raining/snowin and there hasn't been a sign of the sun for days... Everything's just grey - hate it!
I hope you stay warm and enjoy some cozy, lazy times in!

I know, I know... I live in the French Alps. You're picturing brillant blue sky & sparkling snow everywhere, right?

Well, not so much. Just cold & grey at the moment. It's been like that for weeks. The local ski resorts are getting all worked up about the lack of white stuff... with schoolkids here on winter vacation starting at the end of February, no fresh snow = no family ski trips = no euros for those who work on the mountains. Sigh.

Y'all keep warm over there in Texas, you hear?
