“I hated myself for going, why couldn't I be the kind of person who stays?”

i finished this book in two days. it took my breath away.

the movie coming out gave me courage to finally read it and i am so glad i did.

page to page, most amazing thing i have ever read. ever.

there are so many sentences i want to keep and remember but my favorite one, the one that plays over and over is this one :

"it's a tragedy that we get to live only one life, because if I'd had two lives, I would have spent one of them with her."

Seeing that you choose two out of my three favorites lines in my favorite book- wow. These words took my breath away, as they always do.

Please say that you will fly out to NC and watch the movie with me :)
(oh what a dream that would be...)
Even so, I know it will be a most magical film to see. I hope Tom and Sandra do it justice.

So many things I want to tell you, now that you've read the book! Ah- a letter to come!

Micaela, if you loved this you HAVE to read Everything is Illuminated. It is probably my favourite book ever and you know what? I think it's BETTER than this one. Same author. You will laugh. You will definitely cry. You will think about vegetarianism. Promise.

I've wanted to read this one. And I seem to be seeing it everywhere now. When I was at the Lifeline Bookfest, I saw a lady had the book in her trolly and it was my mission to find another one. I didn't but I will take another trip back this weekend.

oh i was just telling karina how this book broke my heart like no other. i wasn't the same for days after reading it and couldn't pick up another book for a while. i have a cousin who was in tower 2 on 9/11. he got out and is okay...on the outside. i thought about him a lot while i read this one.

i still don't have the courage to see it in theatres. the topic will come up at book club this week and i know i will burst into tears just at the thought of it.

words are so powerful.

I didn't reaize that this was a book first! The commercials for the movie have been tugging at my heartstrings. I'm officially adding this to my Nook library!

Oh, I know! I started this book one week last year and was finished within that week. Doesn't the end with the pictures just kill you?! I think if I remember right I finished this book right before bed and let out an audible sigh when done with it. Chad asks me what happened and I think I said "It's just such a good book!"

I'm glad you liked it so much! (Oh, and if I hadn't already read it, I would read it based on your recommendation -- you read the best books which makes me want to!) :)

This is officially on my list of books to read. Just the trailer to the movie brings tears to my eyes. I'm going to be a mess with the book!

Tom Hanks is one of man crushes. After seeing the previews for the movie - I wasn't sure if I could handle watching it, let alone reading the book.
One day when I am brave and have a closet full of tissues - I will need to read this.

I just found your blog through The Lit Girl. So glad I did! I read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close last year (http://ajigreer.blogspot.com/2011/12/extremely-loud-and-incredibly-close-by.html) and wow! Mind blown. I plan on reading Everything is Illuminated soon!
