joys.

"Is solace anywhere more comforting than in the arms of a sister?"

-Alice Walker

i love that my nieces marina & sophia will know the joys of being a sister. It's so darling to see the way they carry each other. When they were visiting this past Christmas, sophia must have woken up from a bad dream because she woke up crying and the first place she wanted to run to was in Marina's arms. Marina hugged her and soothed her hair.

at 26, i still have the same reaction, and although my twinkie is hundreds of miles away-- the sound of her voice is nearly as good a comfort as her hug.

Lovely. I am so glad to have a sister.

Do you and Marianne love White Christmas like Amanda and I do? "Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters! Never had to have a chaperone, no sir! I'm here to keep my eye on her... Caring, sharing, every little thing that we are wearing..." We love to sing along. In fact, it was one of the songs we played at our wedding, so Amanda and I could sail around the dance floor together!

Can't wait for you and your sisters to be reunited this summer. xoxo

your nieces are beautiful, and those pictures are so sweet.

my stepsister and i aren't that close (although we used to be), but my brother and i are absolutely best friends, and it's sort of like we're the other half of one another :)

They are, of course, gorgeous, just like all the women in your family. The sweetest. I love my sis as well . . . even though she, too, is hundreds of miles away. I love these family posts--so endearing sweet Micaela. :)

hehe I just saw Erin's comment and had to say - my uncle always sung that sisters song to me and my sister when ever we had a little spat (which was often lol)

this makes me miss my sister though even if she is a pain :) I'm glad your nieces look after each other, even though Mikela is younger than me I cant remember a time I wasnt looking after her...

Awww that is so sweet! I dont have a sister and so far have never felt a need for a sister. Thank god I am close enough to my brothers for me to feel so comfortable with them.

And your nieces are beautiful Micaela! xoxo

Oh they're so cute! My sister is two years younger than me, and although we argue SO MUCH, I love her to bits :) Hopefully when we're not teenagers anymore and when I go to university we'll get along better! x

I didn't have a sister growing up but then I went away to college, joined a sorority and now I have a slew of amazing girls I'm proud to call my Sisters. A lot of them are pretty close to how I think a real sister would feel like. Then of course there is my 'sister' Katie, who has been my best friend for about 8 years now, lived with me, and she can give the best phone-hugs ever! =)

Speaking of you and your lovely sister, I just read your guest post on Cassie's blog. Sweet! You should do a little feature here so everyone can go and read your darling words!

Lovely lovely girls! My godkids are very loving to each other too. It's an older brother, younger sister relationship. They hug and kiss and console each other. Really cute to see their affection for each other.
