Wanting to Know you Wens.

As much as i desperately wish i could pull off the natural look, you'll rarely find me wearing anything but a dress / heels and certainly always with mascara and painted lips (even if it's just my tinted burt's bees lip balm in rose). In other words, i'm pretty girly that when i meet someone new they can't believe i love sports.

i always say it's the best gift my ex boyfriend ever gave me, a love for my Texas teams

like tonight? my stomach was in knots watching Game Four as we went into extra innings. I was jumping up and down on my coffee table (good thing its sturdy and wooden!) with Nelson Cruz's three-run homer in the 11th Inning bringing the Texas Rangers ONE away from the World Series.

if you're my facebook friend, you already know what my status updates look like on game day but i just love the comrade (even the friendly "trash talk").  My friend Viet's comment on my status tonight made me smile.

so that's my curve ball... people are surprised by my love for sports.

what surprises people about you?

i have to say i love your FB updates. i actually learn something most of the time, and can then speak intelligently when my friend pablo at work is talking about last night's games. so thanks!

my curve ball, the thing that almost always w/o fail surprises ppl about me, is my age. and that makes me happy! : ) God is good, all the time!

That I swear like a trucker?

Or perhaps that I'm actually quite low on self-esteem and confidence. I manage to fake it pretty well...

That I'm actually an intelligent person. I'm a pretty big talker, as I'm sure you've figured out, and I always talk the same. Whether I'm in class, or with friends, or with a superior, for the most part - I use the same mannerisms and language. And I don't come off as very smart. People I have class with always ask me what I made on a test or something (so they can feel better about themselves?) and then get this weird look on their faces when I tell them. Yes, I made an A, which is better than what you made. Yes, I still talk like a Southern valley girl. Deal with it.

I hope that doesn't come off as snooty.

I love your curve ball! And everyones so far actually, I'll be popping back later to read more definitely :)

Mine is that I have an absolutely filthy sense of humour, I always have done so I never know why people are surprised, but if anyones going to lower the tone of a conversation, its usually me. Perhaps I appear sweeter than I am, haha.

People are always surprised to find out that I'm a bit of a sci-fi/fantasy geek. My preppy, girly exterior fools them!

I'm the same way! People are always surprised by my rabid love for college football. I don't think it's because I'm so girly, but because I'm such a book nerd :)

I'm with carmar76 -- people are always surprised by my age. I guess I'm glad that I look so young. lol

Great post!

This is a tough one for me- I think I'm pretty much a 'what you see is what you get' kind of person and can't imagine having some trait that would eventually show itself and surprise others. I think from the minute I meet someone I am an open book- which isn't always a great trait.
Maybe it's the way I eat? All meat/bread/dairy and no fruits/veggies! haha :)

For my entire adult life I've always shocked people when I swear. Apparently I come across as a goody two shoes, so when a curse word leaves my lips I shock people, hehe. It's always pretty entertaining.

Great topic Micaela!

People are constantly surprised by my love for football, for the same reasons your sports-loving surprises people. :) I suppose the teaching-in-prisons thing comes as a shock to some folks (but not anyone who knows me). Otherwise, I don't know! It's so fun reading everyone else's answers, though. :)

i also play the bassoon which is surprising for someone only 5 feet tall!
