happy Cinco De Mayo!

my Pappa is from Mexico City so i especially love the culture.

i've always said that if i was a painting i'd be a Frida Kahlo; perhaps this one.

Her work is often characterized by their stark portrayals of pain. Kahlo insisted that she "never painted dreams" but rather painted her own reality. If i was a painting, i'd be a Frida Kahlo.

Happy Cinco de Mayo. It's my step-son's birthday on this day. I have always been very intrigued by Frida Kahlo. I have a book about her life that a friend gave me. I haven't read the whole thing, but her paintings showing her pain make me sad for her and her life.

Love that jewelry!! Frida has always been one of my favorites. Her art SPEAKS pain...and lord knows, she went through plenty. Very cool.

The Broken Column is one of my favorites of Fridas.
She was so brave in portraying her reality rather than trying to come up with "pretty" images to cover the pain. The result is haunting... but so beautiful.

Cinco de Mayo!! My latest post is Cinco de Mayo related. :)
My mum is from Puebla, Mexico, so I feel a little proud every May 5th. X)
I went to the Placita Olvera and saw all kinds of beautiful things. I picked out the perfect card for you, which I will be sending you shortly. :) It's funny how so every time I saw something Frida related, I thought of you!
