it's hump day once again! I can't believe how long this week has felt. Actually it's probably because I've been non-stop! I shouldn't complain though, I have gotten so much done at work and been on top of my projects. It's a great feeling. :) Then I've just been non stop after work.
Dinners... drinks... movies... the girls. That's a great feeling too but last night I finally cleaned my room/bathroom and skipped the glass of wine I usually have before bed and climbed in with the current book I'm reading:
She used to be a producer for ABC (still great to read about the business when you've been in the business) and she married the cousin of John John (JFK jr). She would lose her best friend Carolyn & JFK Jr. to the plane crash and her husband (who had cancer) a few weeks after. There was four and then her. Alone. I'm loving it so far.
This is what I wrote about it on goodreads.com:
I love biographies. It's amazing how the human spirit... the heart can endure pain or loss and keep hope and faith. This is defenitely a great read so far. Great company for at work during down time and in bed when I'm alone and don't want to be alone with my thoughts... I can escape in hers.
I joked with someone that this is my new boyfriend... no, that's not right either ;)
All right, happy hour is waiting for me but since I was talking about sleep... (lack there of!) I wanted to share this pic with you. I'm pretty sure I got it off of A Cup of Jo once again - LOVE this girl!
I've been addicted to decor mags and blogs about fixing up homes. Me and Kate are in the process of finding a new place and i envision all this cool art I want to hang up or vintage looking furniture I want. Doesn't this bed look dreamy? I'm loving the lights and will have some in my new room...
It looks magical...
and sweet.
and peaceful.
and who doesn't want that for their bedroom? ;)

Friday: August 01, 2008 TGIF!!!!
Current mood: blissful
Seriously. We're talking 270 calories (in a 16 oz) of pure pleasure! Love it! Alas, I never made it there this morning. It's more of my Monday ritual anyway but this week I seemed to have needed the extra boost and went every day. I double dipped one day and the nice barista noticed and joked about it. To which (it was after lunch the second time) I said, "I'll see you at dinner then." Charming.
Yeah, woke up late (my room mate katy beat me out the door—that's how late! Ha!) so I was glad I planned ahead for such an event and had juice waiting in our office fridge. I had a "Naked" juice and it was yummy! How can it not be with a name like that? It's a "pound of fruit in every bottle." lol It's all in the name really. The one I had this morning was a Peach Mangosteen Bliss. Yummy! I discovered this new-ish brand during a whole day of live shots at Market Street with Daniel. Put it on your grocery list next time!
So yeah lovies… I get the weekend off!!! Oh what is a girl to do to truly celebrate in WF?! Fly the coo-coo's nest! Yep, tomorrow my brother who is visiting from Germany leaves us (sadly!!!) so we're dropping him off tom afternoon. His flight is at 4 at the DFW. Why waste a perfectly good reason to not stay in Downtown Dallas?
This will be my temp digs Sat. night!! : Crowne Plaza Hotel - Dallas Market Center
Laaaaaa lovely!
I will leave you all this weekend with this:
Carrie: I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.
Enjoy your weekends babies! can't wait to hear all about it
Thank God it's FRIDAY!
Seriously. It's my first real weekend in years!!! So I'm going to enjoy this one and it's extra special ya see.

Going to wear my strappy new heels (my new loves!) and feel like a true City Girl! I want to find a trendy bar/paino bar/show/eatery/book store/shopping spot. The only request I had was to find a fabulous thrift store so a stylish girl like me can find a lovely one-of-a-kind gem! I'll let you know how it goes.
Oh! And finally I can do my much-awaited black nail polish this weekend like the celebs have been doing like forever. It's weird to give my nails a break since for the last 3 years I've had them gelled on.

I love this picture.
It's both beautiful and sad.
I think it says a lot…
But I'm sure how I interpret it, will be different from yours.
To me it's like she's hoping for something…
She's almost begging.
He's practical.
There's some sort of sweet desperation.
And yet with his hand placed there… it's intimate longing too.
Like "hold me before I disappear."
Like this will be the last kiss.
This will be the last time I'll admit I need you.
So savor it.
You've read it many times in books or hear people say it after something ends…
I wish I would have known that would be the last time we'd kiss… the last time we'd touch… the last time we would dance at someone's wedding. The last time we'd laugh together… so you could remember every detail. So you could appreciate it that much more.
It's a great picture.

Wens Morning July 30 MJ... quick encounters... seize the day!
Current mood: adored
Max claims that I instantly make friends.
I leave and pick up our drinks from the bar and a few moments later, I introduce him to two people that just started chatting with me that are training here at Sheppard. We talk for a good ten minutes. Doug has four kids and never married. Eddie is from Austin and wants to go overseas.
I may never see these people again... but for a bit, we conversed over our drinks as music played.
I am making it a habbit now of talking to everyone... being nice to each stranger I encounter. I'm a huge believer you should always ask your cashier how they are and *mean* it. Not out of habbit.
Not that I was ever un-friendly as Max complimented me on :) but I realize that you can truly make someone's day or someone can make yours... if you actually take the time to look up and smile at someone as you're walking down the grocery aisle or hall in a building. I hate when people are looking down to avoid eye contact or don't even look over to offer a smile.
I was telling Max this funny/nice story about how i was getting gas on my way back to work and i was next to this guy who reminded me of an older "Mr. Cofee" from the Green Mile. Friendly and big.
He asked me how I was and I said, "oh you know... is it 5pm yet?" and he laughed and I asked him how he was? and he said, "Could be better but I'm a blessed man."
We kept filling up our cars and he made a mention he liked my grey vera wang heels. As a carrie wanna-be... HUGE compliment :) and not a normal one coming from a man like him. I told him thank you and as I was getting in my car, I told him to "stay blessed" and send those blessings my way. He laughed and said he would.
In my car I was jamming to "Billie Jean" by MJ and since my windows were rolled down some, I yelled over at him before leaving, "I can't be that bad off-- I'm jamming to Michael Jackson!" to which he laughed and we waved.
4 minutes. MAYBE 5. But that was it... and it was nice and simple kindness is hard to find sometimes.
So i challenge everyone to say hi to a stranger and make someone's day.
When all else fails... MJ helps too. :)

but my girlfriends (STEPHANIE!) already know that little secret. ;)

Tuesday: July 29, 2008 Keys.

This weekend at one of my last breakfasts (probably) after the weekend morning show, we were all having lunch and over our pancakes and eggs, somehow matt brought up his keys. He keeps his old office key on his keychain, mixed in with a bunch of other ones. It reminded me of a movie I saw recently and of which, I bought the soundtrack of this weekend.
"My Blueberry Nights." It's Norah Jones' first role in a film and includes a great cast including Rachel Weiz (amazing!), Natalie Portman, and of course (of course!) a very sweet Jude Law. I def. recommend this movie. You feel the emotions cos they portray them so well. And movies have the amazing power to make you feel like anything is possible. That you really can meet a guy like Jude Law. :)
There's a part in the movie that stuck out to me and it has to do with keys (hence the start of this blog). Looking at Matt's keys with all the old keys still left on, I thought of a line from the movie. Jude Law owns a cafĂ©'/diner and has a fishbowl of keys people have left behind… some have been left for years. Norah's character asks why he doesn't just throw them away? To which he simply says:
"If I threw these keys away then those doors would be closed forever and that shouldn't be up to me to decide, should it?"
In that same breath.. later in the movie, his old girlfriend comes back to the diner and jokes about how he still keeps those keys in the counter.
and she says to him, "Sometimes, even if you have the keys those doors still can't be opened. Can they?"
of which he replies, "Even if the door is open, the person you're looking for may not be there."
You should see this film. Save it for a rainy day atleast… and then we can discuss it! :)
I want this.
I want to be part of another's embrace.
I want to find the person I am looking for on the other side of the door.

Friday: July 25, 2008 is it good for you?

Current mood: thoughtful
From time to time, I'm going to share with you lovies of mine who keep up with my words/life something that touches me. A song. A excerpt from the novel I'm reading... a quote, or whatever I happen to stumble upon.
Today I went outside on my break to use my phone and i lit my cig on the WRONG end. I know right? I wasn't even drunk. ha A sign I must give it up. Gladly, too in a way. Another bad thing I "picked" up along the way...
But I do this thing-- okay me and God have this game you see, just us lol-- where I ask God to give me a sign by the song that's playing on the radio when I happen to turn it on. Yesterday on my way to work I did this and the song that was on was "Save Tonight" by Eagle Eyed Cherry. It's a great song with personal meaning. It was a song that I heard on my last night in Italy on my dolce vita-- the summer of my life. I was in a car with my best friend and the guys who stole our hearts and we were driving in my francesco's car trying to beat the sunrise... because our flight was early that next morning.
I NEVER thought I would get over that hit/miss in life... I was willing to put off college for him... to learn italian... to do the unthinkable.
That song will always remind me of that time and that heartache... I never thought I would get over. But now.. now, I can look back and smile because that was something I can tell my nieces about one day. My point is... songs/music has the power to heal. Or understand.
One of my all time favorite CD's from start to end is Third Eye Blind's.
LOVE IT.
And it's no small coincidence that I happened to get reaccquainted with it now. Right now in this moment in my crazy life.
This was the song that was on during my break today. It's for you :)
"Good For you" by 3eb
Hey, will you stay a while.
My smile will not mislead you,
Cause I've been alone, my faith turned to stone,
Still there's something in you, that I believe in,
Close to your pierce,
I go wild and fierce,
Still I let you be,
I feel you next to me,
'Cause outside I feel,
A wind it starts to blow,
I'm taken in your undertow.
Everything is fine I'm lonely all the time,
Cause All I want to do is be there for the things that you're going through,
Well is it good for you,
Is it good for you.
Cause you haunt my nights when I don't know where my life should go,
Well is it good for you,
Is it good for you.
Hey, child please stay awhile.
My smile will not mislead you.
Cause I've been without.
I go wild with doubt,
I grab at you,
I can't stop grabbing at you,
Cause I feel you cross my mind in disarray,
intoxicated ricochet,
There's nothing wrong,
just don't take too long,
Cause all I want to do is be there For the things that you're going through.
Well is it good for you,
Is it good for you?
Cause you haunt my nights when I don't know where my life should go,
Well is it good for you?
Is it good for you?
All I want to do is be there for the things that you're going through.
Well is it good for you (good for you)?
Well is it good for you (good for you)?
Cause you haunt my nights when I don't know where my life should go, (my life should go)
Well is it good for you (good for you)?Well is it good for you?
