you can tell so much about someone by the books on their shelves.

1. My favorite book growing up was "The Doll in the Garden" by Mary Downing Hahn. A ghost story that both scared me and made me want to cry. I have a copy of it thanks to my bestie, one of the first things she ever gave me .

2. The funniest book I've ever read was low brow humor: "I hope they serve beer in hell" .

3. The one book that has truly changed my life is "The Diary of Anne Frank." My twin sister first read it and shared it with me & it's still amazing to think someone so young surrounded by a war that killed those who believed in what she did... saw the world as we should all see it- "Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart" .

4. If you're looking for a real "tear jerker" you should probably read "Tales from the Bed," a memoir by Jenifer Estess. Sarah Jessica Parker said this about Tales: "Touching and inspiring... It's like having lunch with a delightful and hilarious friend who you wish could stay on into the evening just for one more story, one more tale."

5. If I could meet any author living or dead I would want to meet Jane Austen. Oh is there any more perfect answer?

6. The next book on my "to read" list is
I loved the film so much that afterwards, i went online and ordered a copy of the book. The director's wife actually wrote it .

7. If I was snowed into remote cabin in the woods and could only choose three books to bring with me I'd bring "An Italian Affair" by Laura Fraser, "The Time Traveler's Wife" & "Eclipse" - the love triangle between Jacob & Edward would keep me warm - i could imagine being in the sleeping bag with Jacob while Edward was pained he couldn't help me- er, i mean Bella...

Play along over at Lauren's. I'm always on the look-out for next must-reads... I can't wait to read your answers! x

hmm I think I've read the "The Doll in the Garden". It sounds really familar. I agree about the Diary of Anne Frank, she was years before her time. I could re-read "The Time Traveler's Wife" over & over again, I love it so much!!

How fun this is. I'll go hop over to Lauren's. =)

I knew the name of the first author you mentioned sounded familiar. My favorite book growing up was "Wait till Helen Comes."

I'm pretty sure I had that book checked out every day of school from the time I started reading chapter books till I was about 12 yrs old!

Now I wanna read Tales from the Bed! Anything that SJP endorses, I'm all over. :)

I read your sister's list and it's so cute how similar y'alls are. :)

Your last answer makes me smile, combined with the fact that you love Jane Austen, too. I really love Hemingway, but I love romantic Christian fiction because of all the sexual angst. Gotta love low and high culture combos.

I remember your excitement as you opened up M's package to you and it was the copy of the "Doll in the Garden" with the same cover as the one you cherished growing up :) So sweet!!!!

I remember how glad I was when you gave me your copy of "An Italian Affair." That book really saved me when I was going through that horrible experience remember?

You've always had good taste in books sister :) And in movies and in everything - that's why I usually end up loving everything you do :) xoxo

I think if anyone had a look at my books they would be confused by the extremes lol.

Eclipse - Okay are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? Every time I see my cousin if the conversation gets round to Twilight it usually gets back to Edward vs Jacob! lol.

Great list. I'm not sure I read that particular Mary Downing Hahn but I'm sure I read a few of hers as a kid.

Loved Anne Frank.

I adore The Time Traveller's Wife. Only just read it last summer! Can you believe it?

It's Friday! Hooray!

Hmm... I'm not familiar with most of those books. I have heard of the I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell one. It looked hilariously offensive... lol
