he is the most careful driver i know. Who else can drive 20 hours non stop? We have so much fun on these little road trips, talking about anything and nothing while eating hot funyons and sipping gas station coffees.
When he first got the job in VA and left last September (before i moved with him in January), i gave him the audio book of David Sedaris' essays.
i can now forgive him that he never opened it during that whole trip.
only because it entertained us on our drive back from Texas. Sedaris is darkly entertaining, and most usually with a deeper punch as the conclusion. It was our first audio book experience, and it was the best kind because the books were read by him.
and Tillie you'll love this-- in one of his essays, he mentions being on a music show in Europe and guess who he says was there? ROBBIE WILLIAMS!!!
i do so love our little roadtrips of love.

So sweet, and I'm so happy to see you happy again. I've never successfully listened to an audio book . . . I get too stir-crazy and daydream and lose focus! Maybe I'd be able to give it a real shot, though, on a 20 hour trip, haha.
I'm a little slow on the uptake here but it looks like things are better between you and the fiance! YAY! I'm glad you're happy :)
Road trips with lovers are the best. I learn new things about my man every time we take one and I'm so in awe of how much I love the teeniest little idiosyncrasies about him.
I've been itching for a roadtrip of any kind, but this one really makes me wish I had someone to share a trip with! Don't make too many posts like this, I'll get lonely. (Just kidding, please continue to ruin my head with dreams of a Prince Charming like yours.)
I absolutely love Sedaris and his writing style!! Hip hip to that! xo
Sedaris' Me Talk Pretty One Day is even better! check it out on your next road trip...
I love that book! I've never tried audio books, being a snooty book purist and all, but you have inspired me to give it a try. Maybe on the next roadtrip. :)
Alan and I spent 2 days on the road together when we first started dating (it was his first trip to Canada and we'd only been together about a month! talk about pressure!) We drove through the prairies, listening to the Dixie Chicks (it was the only cd we brought) and playing 20 questions. We loved stopping at roadside cafes, buying slurpees and getting to know each other more.
Your road trip sounds lovely. So glad you two are happy again. You so deserve it!
xo
I WANT TO READ IT! Its so funny that you mentioned me in this missy, because I have wanted to read this book for ages! Holy smokes, i really need to find it now! haha. oh goodness. I miss you! I am going to post you something soon xoxox
Oh I love the idea of listening to an audiobook together, something I might have to try.
i've never thought to listen to audiobooks in the car before. seems like it might be perfect for road trips! i'll have to look into this...
<3 <3 this makes me smile.

audiobooks are the only way i survive those lengthy road trips down the east coast! looks like you've been having so much fun - I've missed you!
I love spending time in the car with my husband, it has been the setting for many great conversations.
xx
I am a huge fan of David Sedaris books. This one was the last I've read. I really would also like to stay in Japan with my husband for a while. This book is in my favorite booklist at goodreads:

roadtrips are wonderful! next time you want to give an audiobook a try, try obama's books which he reads himself. it's funny to hear him do accents and swear! and download free pocasts from the http://www.themoth.org/podcast
Aww! So happy for you and your cute hubby! Road trips are always the best - nothing like hours in the car to truly enjoy one another's company!
i too like Claire have never been able to do audio books. I have tried but it is always something about the narrater's voice... and can't stay focused. But I do LOVE roadtrips xoxo
I just love you two.
Books of tape for a long drive is SO smart. Seriously, I'm so lucky to have such a smart sister :)
Yay road trips with audio books! I can't wait to go roadtripping USA style with my hubby... someday someday. So glad you guys are enjoying it!
you've just reminded me that i wanted to pick up this book. thanks!
...and i didn't renew my license so poor alex had to drive 20 hours straight recently. thank goodness for patient significant others.
