i needed a day off.

i needed a day off of life. So i called in around 5 in the morning (and if you know me, you know i'm by no means a morning person but i hadn't really slept that good last night).

instead of working, i got a pedicure (metallic silver) & went to my favorite book shop.

that's where i found this gem.

there are so many coincidences about this sweet love letter from Henry to his "wifie."

i love finding old notes in books wondering who they were intended for and why. Could i have found a more perfect treasure?

Henry... this is exactly what I want.

what a perfect little gift of love.

(thank you for all your heart-felt and genuine emails/comments. i can't tell you how much they mean to me-- more than you'll ever know. For now, i have no energy to talk about "it"-- so please forgive my silence and know how much you are so greatly appreciated! x)

i think the best thing about old books isn't the smell or the illustrations, but the notes inside! and i've always liked the name henry, so i'd say you hit the jackpot with that book!

oh my .... how absolutely PERFECT... henry? yes

I love you Micaela!! You certainly found a treasure! I love it! Matt and I went to Georgia a couple years ago, and at the top of a mountain was a beautiful old house and garden, all alone. In the library I found love notes in a few of the books. It was a tradition - gave me butterflies. I hope you're doing well - you're in my thoughts!! : ) CHIN UP BUTTERCUP!!!

holy moly. I am so incredibly jealous. so much. P&P is my favorite book. I read it all the time (or at least the letter of re-purposal) and especially on down days. I've recently decided I want to start collecting old copies of it. And I'm glad this found its way to you, particularly right now, but I'm having a really hard time not being full of envy instead!

What an amazing find! Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book, and to find a love note...sigh. I'm glad you took a day just for you; we all need that from time to time.

i hate when the sadness bug bites the people i care about. i think we need to invent a spray that keeps that sadness bug away!

ps - you find the most amazing treasures.

It always makes me a bit sad to find old notes written in books, I guess because the note reflects something that happened a long time ago to people who may have passed on already, and it reminds me of my own mortality. It's just so sweet and sad! :)

This is why I don't think I'll ever jump on the e-reader bandwagon. Books -- especially old ones -- just have character. They sometimes tell stories beyond what's on their pages.

Hope you enjoyed your day off, girlie. We all need "mental health days" every now and then! :)
