It is the soldier.

my pappa (a vietnam veteran) emailed us "kids" this today:

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier,
Who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protestor to burn the flag.

- Father Dennis Edward O'Brian, USMC

my brother Marco and his girlfriend Kristina in Iraq, during his 3rd year deployment (again, a million + one thank-you's for all you darlings who wrote him letters, sent him care packages and kept him in your thoughts while he was overseas).

i am beyond thankful for all our men and women who serve our beautiful country. Happy Veterans day!

im not sure if he ever got my package, i certainly hope that he did. Your brother is amazing, as are all those soliders. Even though they dont fight for me as such, they are heros. And I respect every one of them so hugely. x
