Wanting to Know you Wens.

What were you like in high school? were you voted anything? what clubs did you belong to?

signing Yearbooks... my twinkie was on YB staff!

i was a senior class favorite along with my twinkie marianne (though she also was voted Most Friendly!). I wrote for the school newspaper and wrote about sex, eating disorders, giving up the Olympics, to raising tigers. I was also part of the french club but probably my favorite thing to belong to was being chosen for PALS- a mentoring program where we got paired up with elementary kids from the surrounding schools who needed a little extra attention and help with schoolwork. i loved it!

High School was fun... but certainly not the best years of my life. {who made that up anyway?!}

and because of Claire's post about yearbook pictures and showing her senior class pics (SO CUTE!)... here's my senior picture, Raiders c/o 2002!!!

so what were you like?

and just so you know... i would have totally wanted to sit at your lunch table!

Naww, so cute! :D I don't think I have a photo on hand, but I was school president in my final year (lord knows how!) and I changed my hair every other week. I know a lot of people from high school who will probably recount those years as "the best years" of their lives. I certainly don't agree (I think they are still to come), but it wasn't all bad. I met some good folk.

Awww...darling you are adorable! Gawd..high-school was a blast for me, I won't say best years of my life but I enjoyed it. there was so much time for girly chats and sleepovers, now the lot of us rarely have time to catch up. In high school I was in the choir, co-captain of our sports team, in the yearbook committee..thinking about all the stuff I was involved in back then its a real shock that I had time to study. I made some really good friends, lost a few friends, crushed on people, got crushed and I don't regret it at all. ;)

Oh, high school! I was the new girl freshman year, but then I fought with the "old girls" and I started dating a younger guy junior year so it sort of didn't help. I wasn't voted anything.

But then, I met some very interesting people at school.

i didn't sit through one class in highschool! i played varsity soccer and softball, went to 3 proms, wandered the halls frequently, but i ran my parents surf/skate shop during the day, and at night went to the local community college for free as "dual-enrollment". i like to think i beat the system ;)

I was an A's and B's student, had lots of friends and a couple of bff but not popular at all! I was the kid that sat in the back of the room! In fact my 20th year reunion just passed I didn't go I saw the pictures and I only remember half the people! and I bet they don't remember me!

I think I was a little bit of everything - I was the cheer captain and gymnastics captain, but I was also senior class treasurer and on the Cybersurfari team :) The more I think about it, the more I realize how great high school was.

Oh, my goodness...you are too cute!
I was a "Rude Girl" and I was obsessed with Ska and KROQ classics. I wore vintage when it wasn't cool. I had a huge collection of vintage hats and purses. I was in the Art Club and Amnesty International. Archaeology and Art were my favorite classes. I later majored in Anthropology and Art History. I think I am probably exactly the same now, 17 years later.

love love,

Your yearbook photo is soooooo gorgeous!! wow... you were involved in some great things!! wow...

high school was a huge transition period for me... i started out as quite popular, dating the varsity football guy, then he broke up with me and my group then wouldn't give me the time of day... typical high school stuff. so i just hung out with my water polo team from then on. I was captain of the high school water polo team for 2 years, and THAT part of high school i miss a lot. i was kind of a tomboy/jock girl and actually cut off all my hair... it was about an inch long in the back at one point!!!

MY senior pic i still have super short hair... it's kind of funny to show people - to see the look on their face when they see that pic.

high school was fun, but i agree with you... not the best years of my life. College? now that's a different story!! : )

Happy Wednesday darling!!

I love this! And I don't know if I can explain how I was in high school in one little comment! ha... I was involved in EVERY organization/club, and an officer in most of those. I was a straight A student, salutatorian of my class, cheerleader, editor of my yearbook and school paper, drum major for the band... you name it, I was involved. By all means, a model student (OVER-ACHIEVER.) However outside of school I was a complete wild child- hanging out with older kids, partying, sneaking out (or not coming home), dating boys my mother wouldn't allow... just terrible, really. I can't say I didn't make the most of my teen years, that's for sure!!

You were so cute in high school! I'm sure we would have been best friends. High school was the best four years of my life, to date. I had the best friends, the best teachers, the best experiences. I'd say it was the time that made me who I am today. My best friend now is the girl I commiserated with in the locker room during freshman gym class because we had negative cup-size boobs... 15 years ago!

I was shy in high school. I was an honors student. I danced... a lot. I loved English and French, and sometimes history, and hated everything else. I brought back our defunct school newspaper and still use that experience today. Oh yeah, and I crushed on a lot of boys. :) I met my current boyfriend. I laughed. I cried. I was depressed. I took it for granted.

Me in highschool? Well I would tell you but then I would have to kill you... HA. No actually I was SO uninterested in school. I started dating my ex-boyfriend my sophmore year and he was older than me.. so I basically went to class to get my work done and then "ran" out... were he picked me up everyday. I grew up way to fast. If I could do it over I would savior those years and be more involved. I missed out on alot of memories that most people have.

i was voted shortest. can you believe it?!? although, i actually wasn't the shortest. i was also one of the candidates for class clown, but i didn't win. i've become more shy in my old age, but the clown still comes out sometimes. i belonged to the french club although i rarely went, and i ran track for several years. nothing too exciting!

you look so different in your senior picture!

It's not surprising that you were SO BEAUTIFUL in high school--some things never change! And look at that shiny black hair in that top pic--you have amazing genes, girl (you too, Marianne!). Adorable. I loved a glimpse into high school Micaela.

Sounds like I was similar to Jess (really good grades, super studious, but way too friendly and hung out with bad boys). Super loyal to my friends, and we wreaked havoc around the school. My bff and I had an enormous crush on our high school Latin teacher, and when he wouldn't give us the time of day, we showed up to school wearing ONLY TRENCH COATS and threatened to flash him. Can you believe it?? I still have pictures of that day.

I had my eyes on college the whole time, and was super into literature, but I also had lots of friends and was dating an older guy who didn't go to our high school (and who had a baby and his own apartment--so like Marisa, I grew up too fast, too!).

High school was fun! Not as fun as college, but fun. :)

I went to a crazy small high school in Alabama, and I was the girl that everyone tried to cheat off of - not fun. And I was brutally honest basically all the time, so yeah.. I guess I was kind of a bitch. And it didn't help that I was a little overweight, too. And I was the only person in my high school to go out of state for college, one of the few who chose a 4 year school. My sister still gets people telling her that I think I'm so much better than everyone else cause I went to a fancy private college. Like whatever, dudes.

...I'm just going to stop there. I hated high school. Best years of your life, MY ASS. Maybe if you plan to do nothing with the rest of your life... /bitterApril

I liked high school a lot. I had a close group of friends. We worked on the yearbook, I wrote for the school paper, was in the Red Cross Youth Group (we used to go camping and have the greatest time), was in the drama club and acted in a few plays... I was very focused on getting into a good university, so didn't do a lot of the typical drinking/partying stuff. I was an honours student and I studied a lot- esp English lit and Western Civ and History. They were good times, but I liked university more. In high school I was more worried about what I looked like, how I dressed, what people thought of me... it all added up to some pretty low self-esteem (plus I was in love with one boy for the entire time, but never got up the nerve to tell him, so I was always agonizing over that!) Once I got to uni, I got over it and learned to love myself!

when people ask me what i was like at high school i always say i was a little bit like Screech from saved by the bell.

When I read Claire's blog I TOTALLY thought of getting to know you wedns and what a perfect meet up date senior portraits would make!
In highschool I felt on top of the world. I was very serious about soccer - played for the varsity team since middle school, played for traveling teams, indoor and sand soccer leagues, and on the pre-olympic development team. Somehow I managed to train for triatholons, field hockey, volleyball, weight lifting, and riding too. I was in youth leadership groups, Spanish club, choir, some theater, and a group much like yours where I taught mentored and tutored elementary aged kids. I was a candy stripper at the hospital too. Somehow every month I fit in a girls night for slumber parties with all my girl friends. I'm exhausted just typing this... I have no idea how I managed to fit it all in!

I loved high school.. I like where I am now a lot, but my hometown + my high school were wonderful places that I loved with all my heart. I was on the softball team for 4 years, I was captain my senior year and I was voted "funniest girl" of my senior class (I still brag about this today!) I was also on the school news for a year... but wasn't as involved as this makes me seem :P

Oh, fun! I went to a small (100 students 7-12 grade when I was a senior) Christian HS & I liked the small-town feel to it. I loved the opportunities - my group of friends spanned all grades, meanting I had an "in" w/ the seniors every year, which was awesome! : ) I got to grade papers for social studies and history and math. I had the opportunity to learn about yearbook in jr. high, get to know the ins & outs, and become editor of that & the newspaper my junior year. I STILL miss yearbook! *laugh*

YOU ARE A DOLL! :)

Just so you know, I am suuuuper excited over this one. My junior and senior years were the best really, but junior year was actually a lot better than my senior. :)

Yay for high school! I loved it and remember it way more than my university days!

I was President of the Student Council and loved orgnaizing events and all of the social stuff. I was also heavy into the choir and for a few years of high school (we used to have 5 years of it in Canada) I would take a few months off and sing professionally in these education based musicals. Those were the days!

How did we not know each other in high school Micaela? I was in PAL for two years, but I graduated in 2000. I guess you were just too popular.

You were just as lovely then as you are now! I was involved in band, theatre, choir... all of the artsy things. I was in plays for almost my entire school career and I really miss performing to this day. I've done a few community plays but it's hard to find time now that I work full time! Boo to that.

Hehe, how fun! That's a cute photo. I was in freakin so many clubs; it's ridiculous how many club photos I pop up in in the yearbook. Spanish Club, Performing Arts Council, Campus Life (christian club), Key Club (community service), Band Council, Newspaper, ahh I can't even remember them all! i was the Publicity/PR rep for several of them.

I was also voted "Most Friendly" of my senior class!! :D
