a proud daughter boasting about her artistic father.

Besides being the greatest father, my pappa is a talented artist. My Mom often asks him why he doesn't paint happy pictures like flowers or this Tuscan villa roof top he gave me... and the answer to that is because my father believes in this quote:

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
- Jorge Santayana

My pappa's work mainly depicts the horrors of war; specifically the Holocaust of World War II.

I think his art is beautiful, even though it's subject is dark.

Please take a look {hit full screen} at the book he put together and please let me know what you think! xo

love,

his proud daughter

You're right, it's a dark subject, but one we can't afford to forget. Your dad's book is beautiful- it makes me think that he must be deeply touched by this topic.

Your father is so talented and amazing! I usually don't like art that is dark or too intense but he does such wonderful work. I can see where you get your love for art from. And your artistic soul. x

Micaela, your father's work is really impressive. It gave me chills. I think the wonderful thing about artists is that they don't just stick with happy subjects but are willing to venture out and explore the dark side of humanity or the unusual parts of creativity. My seventh grade teacher told my class something that stuck with me: "Art," he said, "is not just something you hang over the living room sofa because it matches your decor." It's emotion. It's what makes us human.

sorry for late comment micaela! but your father's artistic work is BRILLIANT. i love art, almost every form of it and even though this isn't my most favorite painting expression, it truly is wonderfully lovely; in a dark matter of course, but still, lovely. i'll have to flip through the book again, but there was this one painting i LOVED and must ask if your father sells prints of any kind..? let me know! xoxoxoxo
