Wanting to Know you Wens.

what do you do when you have a bad day?

husband & i decided to have an impromptu date night (i even skipped my pilates class). we went to a sports bar to watch my Dallas Mavericks in game two of the playoffs {which was also win number two!} and afterwards, he took me to the drive-through at Starbucks so i could get a rocky road cake pop and a peanut butter cupcake.

we drove to the scenic spot in el paso with our dessert and listened to Ray LaMontagne. At one point i finally said, "kiss me, you fool" playfully as if we were teenagers parking.

our bad work days melted away... and it made a regular tuesday night seem magical, especially with the twinkling lights of our new city.

so what do you do when you have one of those days?

{talking to my twinkie always helps too!}

I love El Paso at night. That blanket of lights is amazing. Love and I had a hard time paying attention to the road on our way home from Arizona, because we kept checking out the night time view! :)

A hug from NewBoo always helps :)

The best cure for a bad day for me is exactly what you describe: heading to a sports bar for a beer, some pub food, and laughter with someone I love!

I'm an extrovert so being around people helps me most on a bad day. And sometimes I just gaze at pictures of Jude. :)

I know that exercise makes me feel better, though I can rarely motivate myself to do it when I'm in a terrible mood, because I just want to chill out and have a drink and conversation.

CAKE POPS! btw my stepmama makes the BEST cake pops. You'll get to try them one day. :)

Wow you're so romantic Micaela. That's it! The reason why I love you and your blog so much:) Your view of the world is so pleasant.

That's a gorgeous night photo OMG. Also, I had an impromptu date today too! My hubby pulled some strings at work and came home early. We went biking down the shore for the first time this Spring! It was a beautiful day.

So happy your day ended lovely!

I call Em. I take my boys to the park. I go for a good, long walk. I get out my journal. And sometimes I bake cookies. Chocolate chip ones.

I love that twinkly view of the city...

I asked your sister this exact question last night.
I have to just grump up, feel it all. And it sucks. I don't like being a cranky old lady, but hey... it happens.

I keep hearing about cake pops everywhere and I desperately want to try one now!

I love the view!

Whenever I'm feeling down talking to my little sister (she's 7) and playing with my nephew (6 months) ALWAYS lifts my moods!

You made me want to go to a sports bar for a veggie burger and beer so badly that I'm thinking of suggesting it to my studio mate, here. Yup, we're still at school and it's 11PM and I wish there was a place nearby for us to take a break. Reading about your lovely evening is helping, too, though!

Treats are definitely a part of geting over a bad day. a hug and something special from my husband are also appreciated. It really is about talking and time for me though. Woot almost Friday (always worth a shout!)

Hmm well it depends tho...sometimes I just sleep it off and other times I vent...and venting time sees me acting like a crazy person! lol

I'm amazed by the beautiful photo! Wow! I think being silly helps me get over one of those days. And I mean doing silly things like pretending to walk like a monkey (bent down and swinging my arms around) or doing a little dance.

For some reason it lifts my mood because I end up laughing at myself for doing something so stupid! x

M- You paint just a romantic story with your writing. I just love you! For me after a bad day, a hot bath, a glass of wine with a good book and some amazing music playing in the back ground. If I had my dream home near a lake or an ocean I would just take my book down by the waters edge and I would feel better in an instant.

Excercise always makes me feel better... when I do it!

Usually we go out to eat somewhere and have a few drinks, and maybe somewhere fun to take our minds off of whatever happened that day. Then I usually go to bed because that always makes it better ;)

When I have one of those days, I sit in my best friend's dorm room and watch the Real World.. not too exciting but it helps.

How funny is this: My go-to bad day remedy is a sweet treat and some Ray Lamontagne! I don't know why but sad/melancholy music lifts my spirits like nothing else. Perhaps it's because the emotional distress in the lyrics describe something that completely trumps anything I'm going through. Ha!

And of course, sugar always puts a smile on my face!
