the kind of sunday...

see the mountains in the background? that's my view when i look out our kitchen window, out onto our balcony back porch.

(summer months, i can not wait for you)

maverick asking to play in the snow.

she hops around like a rabbit, trying to keep up with Bubbles.

Today was a pretty day... A kind of sunday that calls for staying in your pajamas. The kind of Sunday that calls for grilled cheese and tomato soup.

date night at the lechuga-maxham household & a surprise this morning.

last night to get my mind off of Maverick not being home, husband-to-be took me out for a pizza date night. (i am ALWAYS in the mood for pizza!) We went to Rivermont Pizza and ate every bit of the food in front of us. We had the bruschetta appetizer with the yummiest Gorgonzola spread with granny smith apples on top. The pizza was just as yummy (we chose the Cajun pie dish). I was charmed.

this morning i slept in and guess what my husband-to-be did? he woke up early and picked up maverick so he could surprise me while i was still in bed. (better than breakfast in bed this morning!) It was the SWEETEST THING ever. I am so glad to have her back.

She's got the dreaded cone on her head which i hate, but as i type this, she is laying in her comfy bed next to me, and her big sister Bubbles is being so helpful (as you can see).

she says thank-you for all your well wishes!!! xo

we're off to cuddle.

My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet. ~Edith Wharton

My puppy's having surgery today. We just dropped her off at the vet to get spayed. They'll keep her overnight and i already miss her. Max once joked that our puppies were like my own little fan club. It's true, they follow me around everywhere. He said all they needed were little cameras. {cute}

I'm praying everything goes well. Earlier last week when i took Maverick for her check-up, Dr. Hope said something about a heart murmur I may want to see a specialist about later, as she gets older. You could see why I'm a little more worried about a "normal" procedure.

She's my puppy child, and anyone who has a pet knows what i mean.

I remember when she was this small!

update: she is out of surgery and still under meds, but fine! my little trooper. Anna you are absolutely right, she IS a Texas girl {wink} thank-you lovies for all your support & kind words and emails. i adore you all TREMENDOUSLY!!!! if all goes well, this puppy is coming home safely to Mommy for me. xoxo

zooooom...

sometimes i pretend i'm Micaela Stewart... as in Tony Stewart. As in NASCAR driver of #14.

on our road trips, darling friend (who doesn't understand why i'm a NASCAR fan) would put the race on the radio for me, and sometimes on Sirius they would have the Tony Stewart channel. This is love, my friends.

i would pretend i was racing, sound effects and all.

he even took me to a NASCAR outlet store we happen to pass on our way to Virginia. this is where i got my tony stewart mousepad.

AND... when he went for his job interview in August, he brought home a Tony Stewart bandanna for our little Maverick.

this is love.

sometimes long distance relationships are unfair...

like last night when darling friend was in Atlanta visiting his friends and they were out watching the World Series. Max texted to say they had a "sex and the city cosmopolitan" and thought of me.

i was already in bed because of an early meeting...

that lasted all morning.
all morning while he was shopping at IKEA for our home.

he was so cute to email pictures of a persian looking rug, asking if i liked that one, or this one? little details... gestures like this from my technical husband are lovely to me. He thinks he's just asking about a rug, but to me they are lovely reminders that he's asking because it's for OUR house. Our. I like that little word.

i wished i had ruby slippers this morning so i could be with him.
shopping for our house.

since i had an early morning meeting, we got off work early. I changed into my gym clothes, headed to spin class only to find there was no 4:30 spin today. I marched over to the treadmill and ran for awhile (just enough to get my sweat on) and realized it's too beautiful a day to waste.

Walking Maverick around the neighborhood was a much better idea for me and her.

It reminded me of when me and my technical husband were a long ways from "our." We worked pretty opposite schedules for a couple of months and it was during this time that he "keyed me." He gave me a spare key to his apartment and asked if i could check on his dog Bubbles while he was at work.

He even wrote a post-it where i would see it that said, "code word: shampoo." I remember calling him puzzled, asking what in the world did that mean?

he laughed and said it was his test to really see if i had in fact came over. [honestly, he didn't doubt it (i don't think!), that is just the sense of humor my Max has.]

that funny post-it led to little notes i'd leave for him, after walking Bubbles.

i still do this....

Only now i get to do it in our house.

happy new week lovies!

Happy Monday!!!

I had exactly the weekend i needed (except for that Cowboys loss to the Giants!!! ouch. Darling Friend joked that he was going to call right after the game, but was "waiting on you to get over it.")

A nice get-away with girlfriends, the Britney Concert (who has a ROCKIN body though it was nothing like seeing her live the first time), college football, & lounging by the pool at twinkie's mother-in-laws' wondering where the TX sun was.

Friday night after the concert, we went to the House of Blues, before making our way to the Industry Bar in Luisville. We stayed with a gf of Erin's at her beautiful house. Seriously beautiful, that it completely felt like we were at a gorgeous bed and breakfast.

Saturday was nothing but college football! Erin went to Texas Tech (as did all her friends) so we were all decked out in red and black to cheer them on at the National Sports Lounge in downtown Dallas. Oh we wanted Texas Tech to win so bad...

Sunday when i got home, i spent the time fixing up my house. It's starting to feel like a house again, and it will be nice to get back to feeling like "normal" (whatever that means). I talked a lot with darling friend, and that was incredibly nice. He doesn't feel so far away then. Btw- he had his first on-air day yesterday and he did great! I'm so happy for that. Oh and our Noles won Saturday- GO FSU!!!!!

Twinkie's mother-in-law is really the greatest. In fact, I call her Mom. Mom just bought a new car and gave her old convertible top to Marianne. I'm so happy my twinkie has a new car!!! (she needed it- her poor car kept dying on her. We've never had "new" cars, so i'm so happy for her). Like Lo said, "i forsee a lot of crazy nights in that car!!!" and as i added- we do have "convertible hair."

it was a busy weekend for your Micaela, but one that she absolutely needed.

my little Maverick who had a "girls weekend" too.

She stayed with Michelle, my friend John's beagle.
Aren't they precious?

and ooh, if you love pizza like i do, twinkie's mother-in-law took us out in Sundance Square (downtown Ft. Worth is beautiful) where we had chicago styled pizza at Uno. I have never tasted a better pizza crust. YUM.

i do so hope you lovies had an equally great weekend.

I can't wait to read about yours. xo

MIXED feelings.

our baby Maverick went to the vet today because i noticed a small knot underneath her skin by her shoulder. The doting Mommy I am, OF COURSE i was worried.

maverick's vet was out for summer vacation and rather than wait til they got back, darling friend suggested we take it to my twinkie's vetenarian.

she had her appt at 9:30 and LUCKILY the vet said it was probably from her last shot, because it was the big shot. BUT! she said that Maverick probably wasn't a bichon frise, but a maltese. I was shocked because i had my suspicions, even though she had her AKC registered bichon papers.

She looks different than Lola, but I just figured it was characteristic. That Maverick's straight hair (bichons have curlier fluffy coats, like Lola's) was just her puppy hair. I mean look at Lola when she was little:

The place i got her from doesn't even sell Maltese's, just Bichons and Haveneses. It's not a big deal cos i love her just the same, but I was still shocked. (Maltese's are just as cute, look at Nicole's from La Mia Vita. Massimo is ADORABLE, like his "mommy")

Max didn't understand why i was so shocked (i loved lola's curly hair!), but he texted me, "i like mutts and mixes (mexipina) {referring to my nationality} love u."

how cute is that?
i suppose if i'm a mix, so is my puppy baby.

Didn't sleep well last night...

because a little sweet puppy took half my pillow :)

Maverick slept well! but Mav can sleep ANYWHERE...

case and point: as i was catching up on your lovely blogs with a glass of wine and a side of insomnia last night- she fell asleep on darling friend's back pack in his office.

Ps. Look at her pink little ears! they've gotten so floppy since we have to wait to get her groomed.

Dallas, I KNEW you could do it for me!

As you know, I'm the BIGGEST Dallas Mavericks fan EVER.
My puppy is named Maverick :) in fact, darling friend said that last night my puppy ran around saying, "Go Me!!!" ha, too cute!!!!

They managed to win the game they needed to STILL have hope. My hope? I never lost it.

My Posh Poochie

My fun boss said this to me today, "I guess you expect a gift this year for Mother's Day?" I AM a puppy owner. :) I said "Most Def!"

She also may or may not have read my fb status saying i couldn't help but spend $60 on Maverick at the paw spa bonetique. They have "Pet Head" for dogs, from the line of our "Bed Head" products. The bonetique is so cute and trendy- they just got a line of Ed Hardy in for dog carriers/clothes. It's sick, I know.

They have little gourmet cookies, decorated for pets. I couldn't resist getting one in the shape of a cosmo...

I Heart Puppy Kisses

esp. Maverick's.

here was us before bed last night. Yup, that's my tony stewart shirt ;) I live in TX, it's okay to like Nascar! ha.

She slept on top of my head most of last night (so sweet!!! she curls around so that her nose is on my forehead, like kissing my forehead) and this morning i woke up and she was next to my face on her back, paws up. ADORABLE.

*this comment by mademoiselle cracked me up!!! I am sure Darling Friend would agree ;)

The grass is always greener.

Saw this on Double Takes, and agreed, there's something very sad, but awfully cute about this sketch.

For me, it's MONDAY today :P
and i totally forgot about a credit card payment so there goes $140 in FEES ALONE.
it's sick.
really sick.

not to mention i spent too much on drinking this weekend...
enough. I need to be done with that. more later.

Lovies, I hope you woke up on the better side of the bed :)
This is who i woke up next to this morning...

ya, she was fake sleeping too!!! oh, how i lover her!!! and all of you! xo

ps. speaking of my little maverick, my Dallas Mavericks REALLY did wow against the Suns yesterday. I was sooo excited! WAY TO GO JASON KIDD!!!!

I've had Maverick a WEEK today!!!

I've had Maverick Lyne for a week now!!! A full week I've been a Mommy. :) It's hard to believe that last friday after a lovely lunch at Olive Garden, she was hours away from being mine!!!!

What a week of adventures she's had- meeting other puppies, my friends, and family. And do you know what they all had in common? they all fell in love with her. She really is precious!!!

Baby has her first doctor's visit tomorrow, which means she's getting her very first bath tonight.

I am STILL SOOOO in love!!!!!!!!! :) she makes me happy.
worth the hours she's kept me up cos she wants to play, or the pee i have to vacuum up. ;)

Introducing Maverick Lyne Lechuga!!!

she is PRECIOUS.
teeny tiny. I think she was the runt of the batch.
I just love her. I fell in loooove instantly!
She's sweet and likes to be held (just like a baby) but feisty!!!

I have to say, the first night here with me, she was incredibly like a baby.
Woke up EVERY hour. I remember holding her and looking at my watch and it was 3 a.m.
I was SO tired.
I don't know how some of you mommies do it :)
She's a handful right now.
For instance, it's her first day without me while i'm at work.
I usually go to spin class and now i'm missing it to make sure she's okay.
I don't mind it because...

i loooove her!!! I do!!! she's perfect. My little Mav.
