oh i expect hugs!!!!

my sweet katy bird sent me an e-card for "Hug A Vegetarian Day!" isn't that funny? i smiled.

i've been a vegetarian since high school... but don't worry, i won't go all PETA on you. *wink
my veggie tray pressie

Today, hug any vegetarians you know. (i wish you could hug me! I believe hugs can change your day).
I told Max i expected a card....

& Lo wants to go to Sala Deli for a lunch date,
in celebration of my day.
How sweet is she?

i love my gfs!!! & tonight we're having a scary movie slumber party! sleeping bags, pajamas- us sisters sprawled in their living room.

i love our sister dates.
update: here's a couple of pics of my sister girls

HAPPY FRIDAY!
& Hug a Vegetarian Day!

i love movie dates with my girls.

i love movie dates with my gfs. It's almost as good as a happy hour. Me + Twinkie with our sister friends Lauren + Mehle, and Stephanie.

uh-huh, that's my Lo of "Life is short//Love is forever."

My cutie patootie.

we went and saw "Love Happens" with my girlfriend Jennifer Aniston.

it was a long big cry movie, but i do so love my gf still (who's character was named Eloise- love it- and owned her own flower shop). It made me want to live in Seattle. I have never been, but i've always said i wanted to live there. Rain- it's my happy weather.

the part i loved? (without spoiling too much) she keeps a copy of cards sent with flowers that "stayed with her." She said something like, "life... on a 3x5."

Lo, THANKS for my fake glasses and the picture/note. It means SOOO much to me. Don't forget, us sisters have a scary movie night date in your living room- pajamas & sleeping bags. love you!!!! xo

"I'll lean on you and you lean on me and we'll be okay."- Dave Matthews Band

“Maybe we could be each other’s soul mates. And men could be these great, nice guys to have fun with.”

- Charlotte, "Sex and the City."

Lo wrote the sweetest thing to me on her blog,
it touched my heart. I smiled, oh how i smiled.

Lauren Suanne, I LOVE YOU!!!!

PS. after my life fell apart, and i was a mess at work- she emailed me and put everything in perfect perspective. She saw it as it was- on the outside looking in, and put it so clearly. Only your girlfriends can do that. Here's a little part of that email:

"But the heart wants what it wants and that's where I just want to wrap you in a blanket and give you a hug and tell you to just stay with me for awhile, until you've rested and been able to take a breath."

isn't she precious?

happy new week lovies!

Happy Monday!!!

I had exactly the weekend i needed (except for that Cowboys loss to the Giants!!! ouch. Darling Friend joked that he was going to call right after the game, but was "waiting on you to get over it.")

A nice get-away with girlfriends, the Britney Concert (who has a ROCKIN body though it was nothing like seeing her live the first time), college football, & lounging by the pool at twinkie's mother-in-laws' wondering where the TX sun was.

Friday night after the concert, we went to the House of Blues, before making our way to the Industry Bar in Luisville. We stayed with a gf of Erin's at her beautiful house. Seriously beautiful, that it completely felt like we were at a gorgeous bed and breakfast.

Saturday was nothing but college football! Erin went to Texas Tech (as did all her friends) so we were all decked out in red and black to cheer them on at the National Sports Lounge in downtown Dallas. Oh we wanted Texas Tech to win so bad...

Sunday when i got home, i spent the time fixing up my house. It's starting to feel like a house again, and it will be nice to get back to feeling like "normal" (whatever that means). I talked a lot with darling friend, and that was incredibly nice. He doesn't feel so far away then. Btw- he had his first on-air day yesterday and he did great! I'm so happy for that. Oh and our Noles won Saturday- GO FSU!!!!!

Twinkie's mother-in-law is really the greatest. In fact, I call her Mom. Mom just bought a new car and gave her old convertible top to Marianne. I'm so happy my twinkie has a new car!!! (she needed it- her poor car kept dying on her. We've never had "new" cars, so i'm so happy for her). Like Lo said, "i forsee a lot of crazy nights in that car!!!" and as i added- we do have "convertible hair."

it was a busy weekend for your Micaela, but one that she absolutely needed.

my little Maverick who had a "girls weekend" too.

She stayed with Michelle, my friend John's beagle.
Aren't they precious?

and ooh, if you love pizza like i do, twinkie's mother-in-law took us out in Sundance Square (downtown Ft. Worth is beautiful) where we had chicago styled pizza at Uno. I have never tasted a better pizza crust. YUM.

i do so hope you lovies had an equally great weekend.

I can't wait to read about yours. xo

oh weekend, so glad to see you.

it's a HAPPY FRIDAY indeed!!!

i was a little tired this morning, because i stayed over with twinkie last night. I was sleeping in the guest room, promising her i was fine. A little while later, she opens my door and says she wants to stay with me just because. My sweet seester. Of course this means we stayed up til just about 3 a.m. laughing and chatting about people we knew and what they were doing now.

i love our twinkie chats.

i'm leaving work early, because we're off to Dallas to see Britney Spears in concert tonight!!! yes, it's the 2nd time we will be seeing her CIRCUS tour- but Miss B is her absolute girl crush. We are going with 3 other girls and making a weekend in the City i love. Enjoy your weekends lovies!!! and thank-you sooooo much for being my friend, especially on this week when i needed a friend most.

ps. Darling Friend started his new job today! i wish him all the luck in the world!!!! {not that you need it bd!}

kitsch.

I always thought this word was used to describe someone's cool decor or taste.

as in, "that's so kitsch."

and i've used to often.

Lo sent me a picture of a necklace she purchased off etsy with three silver owls together, representing her and her sisters. Her mom loved owls.

i thought it was darling and replied to her email saying, "owls are so kitsch- OF COURSE your Mom loved them. Of course."

she emailed me back saying that she didn't know what Kitsch meant, so she looked it up and was hurt:

Definitions of kitsch on the Web:
excessively garish or sentimental art; usually considered in bad taste

Kitsch is the German and Yiddish word denoting art that is
considered an inferior, tasteless copy of an extant style of art...

man oh man i felt TERRIBLE. i had nooo clue!
but sweet lo saw my vocabulary faux-pas. in fact, i told her how i used it in this post to describe Katy's decor {which i lurve!}. ahhhh. I'm so embarrassed.

i told my boss the story and she goes, "well that's because kitsch sounds cute. It's a cute word. Isn't it jewish?"

Lauren,

I'm so sorry! I love love love the necklace and the meaning behind it. Thanks for the laughs at lunch. I love my girl time. "huddle huddle" - you are the cutest. smooches!!! xo

catching up with college gfs is my favorite.

one of my mass comm girls Adrian called me friday after work to say she was coming back to our small Texas town for a friend's going away party. She said she tried to book a hotel for her and her friend Bethany, but everywhere was booked. This is not usually the norm, but i joked with her that she hasn't been gone that long to forget that this weekend is Hotter 'N Hell weekend.

It's Wichita Falls' claim to fame: the HHH Bike Ride. Every year before Labor Day is Hotter 'N Hell, the largest sanctioned bicycle ride in the U.S.

It's pretty impressive... about 10,000 riders participate each year from all over the states and even overseas. It's our version of the Tour De France. It was one of my very first news stories, and i'll never forget it because i had put it a long day the night before and was late getting there at 4:30 a.m. -- yes in the A.M. The official start time is sunrise (around 7ish) but people line up in the early dark- it is that big.

our downtown becomes a sea of bikes
she asked if they could crash at Casa di M.
of course!!! Adrian is a twin like me, and a talented writer. She's also a mommy to the most beautiful baby boy Jake. She was the first one of our college group to get married.

we spent her last night as a single woman partying it up in Ft. Worth. There's J, my beautiful friend that some of you know from her blog, Life, adrian, and me circa 2006:

i had sooo much fun having her and her friend Bethany over. Since it was last minute, we didn't have extra clean sheets. Darling Friend went and picked some up over at my parent's after work, so us girls could get a head start at the bar lol He is my sweetheart.

I met Bethany before, and totally forgot this funny event: when drunk, i will playfully bite. Usually it's your shoulder. Bethany says she remembers me as, "the girl who bit my boob."

i need more sundays like this past one.

i spent nearly 10 hours on Sunday with twinkie and our girlfriends katy, stephanie, maria, and erin. Stephanie brought her 2 boys and i just love spoiling them. "Sex and the City" like talk on lawn chairs, a lazy river, snacking, and a hammock.

katy bird who was in town, steph (can you believe she's had 2 boys?!) & me
{the group photo with erin & twinkie is on steph's camera.
maria showed up later, after work}

my bff Maria. i told her her boobs looked pretty.

ignore my water made hair

stephanie's zach. adorable.

after hours of fun in the sun...
Rangers and Boston game later with michelob ultra on draft for cheap. {always fun when Erin's Boston goes against my team and WE WIN!} part of the conversation had:

Girl one: "i bet your number is higher than mine"

Girl two: "i have serious droughts, i'm talking drier than the Sahara. It's just a very luscious period. Let me tell you, 30 is good." {she just turned the dirty 30 this year}

i love love my girlfriends.

i love lazy sunday afternoons like this...

many drinks, many laughs, many memories.

j said that about our happy hour that lasted into the evening with our fave professor Tuesday, and i couldn't have said it better.

below: twinkie, our prof, J {incredible writer of Life}, & me
confession: i couldn't eat enough of that salty popcorn!

oh and get a load of the shots in J's hand.
it was a happy hour indeed!

some truths discussed that night:

*he dropped me to a B in Intro to Mass Communications my freshman year, because i skipped too many times. {yes, he was one of those} i couldn't help it, it was a tues/thurs class that happened to fall during lunch...

*twinkie's crush on him. lol

*how it was discussed amongst students and professors alike the shock of a boy i dated awhile in college... "we all couldn't believe it, how he ever got with you." I'm not one to think i'm out of anybody's league, but i still get questions to this day about said boy.

*during a journalism conference out of town my senior year in college, how i ended up on the hotel rooftop with a boy who wasn't even there for contests. What i announced the next morning when my roof scandal was whispered about: "if he doesn't kiss good, forget the rest." Let it be said that prior to laying on a board of wood on that rooftop with a stranger, that i was walking across the hotel hall in my itty bitty robe {and just the robe} and also locked twinkie out of the room.

who was this girl i was in college???

i am so thankful for my college gfs, most of who i keep in touch with but especially J. {the girl has some stories too, prob even worse than mine! lol love you J}

i am so thankful that we still have such a great relationship with Dr. Sernat (a play on "Borat," not his real name).

many drinks, many laughs, many memories.

cute cute cute movie!!!

The Proposal.

me & twinkie had a movie date with our sister friends, lauren & mehle. { actually, we all liked to say we had a date with ryan reynolds. ooh la la!!!! }
we laughed and laughed and were near tears, this movie was that cute/perfect!!!!

i even forgave myself i forwent the gym (after eating a HUGE lunch of pasta because- i had planned to go to the gym) and for devouring a tub of popcorn... because i love spontaneous plans.

i love a movie that makes you forget about "life" for awhile.
and one of us needed that most yesterday.

our friday picture exchange

some of you have met my lauren by now from her new cute-as-her blog.
we (along with twinkie) constantly email each other while at work. I like to think we're keeping each other company.

our emails are pretty entertaining. Leave it up to twinkie to send us the PostSecrets every Monday and the latest Perez Hilton Gossip about our fave celebs.

On Fridays, we have TGIF Friday pictures, where we snap a pic of ourselves on our cell phones and email them to each other. We're dorks like that, but i love it!!! Twinkie's cell camera is messed up, so she was left out this week. Here's lo's and mine.

I look queasy cos of the color in our stockroom lol and my blackberry doesn't take as good pics as Lo's cell (weird right?) but i was trying to show lo my nails. At first i hated them- i don't do color cos it makes my fingers look even chubbier, but my sweet nail lady talked me into it. I'm a sucker and she was telling me about these new kits they were excited about and i could tell no one was using them and felt bad. I thought my whole nail was going to be red, not just the tip. They've grown on me now... i suppose it's trendy.

i love my girls. love them!

Going out with my Mass Comm girls!!!!

lovies this Friday has been crazy!!! I've been running around town for work- dropped off a catering order (oh the life of being in PR) 15 mins late because it wasn't ready... had a lovely lunch with my working girl friends downtown at a CHARMING new spot called "The Traveling Bistro" and then rushed to a big girl meeting concerning swine flu. WOW.

the business part of my Friday is done with. Tonight i'm attending the Mass Communications banquet at my alma mater. Mass Communications was my major, with a minor in Broadcast Journalism. It's the department's 25th anniversary so i received an invitation. I'm COMPLETELY excited because i have a pretty good relationship with all my former professors, including my now boss :). My boss is really fun and she's set to join us for a drink afterwards.

I LOVE my Mass Comm girls. LOVE them! not all of them could make it tonight :( but i am so glad we still have each other. We've seen each other get started on careers, leave jobs, get married, have babies, and unfortunately in some cases (like myself) been thru some heartbreaks. We still have each other. That's what matters. I can not wait to catch up!!! These girls MADE my college life.

My Jess, me, & Maggie in Ft. Worth celebrating our gf Adrian's Bachelorette Party
sooo long ago.

jenny & i out and about on a school nite ;)

Here was last year, after the banquet.

I am SOOO excited!

My Mass Comm girls, drinks out at our old "college" bar Toby's, before heading downtown to the Pub for some Dan Dyer. He is ABSOLUTELY my favorite musician to see live. He's from Austin and is AH-MAZING. Lenny Kravitz signed him. He is very very talented eye candy to watch.

A FRIDAY, indeed!!! and darling friend is getting dragged out to all of this ;) good times to be had, i hope you all do as well! Can't wait to read all about it on your beautiful blogs!

your busy bee, Micaela xo

dallas, until we meet again... yours truly, micaela xo

This weekend i had TONS of fun out by Lake Grapevine and in Addison with the birthday girl, the beautiful model friend of mine, Nakita. I mean look at her!!!

there was some drinking involved... ;)
non-stop partying as soon as we got there at 8pm.
Nakita was my older sister's best friend in high school. I can remember her coming over when I was in 2nd grade. Who would have thought that she would fly down from Washington to spend her birthday weekend with me years later? :) it's because we're family.

I adore her and her friends!!!!
Washington/NYC here we come!!!

Picture Friday.

On Mondays, me, Lauren, and Marianne all exchange our favorite PostSecret from Sunday. We're each at our jobs, emailing back and forth. Throughout the week, it's the latest celeb gossip/email joke. "Do we like Rhianna's new tattoo? yay or nay?" That sort of thing.

On Fridays, Lauren started "Picture Friday" where we send a pic of ourselves from our phones. We are silly, but you can be silly with gfs :) and esp. on FRIDAY!!!

here was my pic today:

I'm kissing my bobble head of my FAVORITE Dallas Maverick, Dirk Nowitzki. He sits with me on my desk every work day :) i'm kissing him luck for the first play-off game against the Spurs!!!

me and my gfs are lovely dorks, but it makes me smile.

I'm just sayin...

*this is an email my twinkie sent me and some of our girlfriends. I thought amen sista! and wanted to share:

So I find facebook a little depressing….When you chat/look at a boy you used to date in high school and they grow up to be successful men. Like doctors or lawyers who aren’t affected by this horrible economic situation and they’re married to beautiful and intelligent girls. OR when you look up a girl from high school and they’re the ones married to gorgeous, successful men and have equally beautiful babies….OR when someone just does exactly what they say they always would do….

Depressing!

unexpected kind words make my day.

I've been in a pretty down mood today. I don't really know why...
but i have been.

God knows His children.
Today i got an unexpected text from my very missed friend and co-worker at the news station i worked at. She is still a beautiful reporter/anchor there and said she was doing a story and was using file video from a story i did in 2006, one where i did a stand-up. She texted me just to say hi and "i miss my friend! :)" It really made me feel good, it was such unexpected sweetness.

and then this... this just touched my heart and made me want to cry. :) seriously. Courtney is the sweetest girl you will ever know. She has a HUGE heart. Honest. Trust me, I know. She wrote the kindest things about me.

It's funny (and a shame!!!) that we got so close after she moved away. Her emails are my fave. It seriously is like we're chatting over coffee (and smokes- only for me- the smart girl managed to quit!!!! She NEEDS to teach me). Our emails are us sharing our lives... and unashamedly too i might add :) ha! EVERY girl needs a girlfriend like that. One you can tell your shameful secrets to, talk about sex with (!!!!), or just say- listen... i had a bad day, :( i'm not ready to talk about it. Girls like Courtney? they understand.

Everyone needs a beautiful friend like Courtney in their life! :) she is charolette to my carrie, most def!

i could go on and on about my adoration for this girl. I could!
but see for yourself what a wonderful girl she is.

here's an old pic of me and courtney.
Halloween 2 years ago.

Our lives have changed... i'm obv no longer with "Romo."
She's no longer in my little Texas town.
But we're still as close as this pic
and she's still with her Tony.
:)

Abs.

When I was a reporter, I had the best time working with my photographer Abbie Scott. She's my Abs. We'd roll our eyes having to go out to this or that story but get really happy when we had to go interview so and so official. :) We knew as two girls we'd get the kind of story we wanted and then spare time to chit chat ... ok, flirt. ;) But we were a great pair!

at lives, we'd set up the tv- not exactly to see right before we'd hit - but so that she could watch Journey Man and explain it to me. She'd tell me to jump up and down before the "standby" to erase any fear of ants biting me during a live in the summer.

She'd laugh with me after a not so great performance and tell me that a.) at least i looked nice and b.) she'd say my famed line with me, "or something like that" when we got the all clear.

We'd get stuck chasing some small town sheriff for a story and kill time by going to little antique shops or getting starbucks, sharing a smoke or two.

We were in a news unit, parked at where were about to do an interview when she told me she was getting a divorce.
We grew close through the crap we'd go through at work, and the crap in our lives.
I miss these times with her.

Yesterday, her facebook status was, "Abbie is, unfortunately, taking a day off. My body decided for me. Drat!"

I commented her saying, "Good for listening to your body- I mean have u seen your body?! ;)"

abbie's reply: "Ha! That's like a quote straight from "The Office" or something. You're funny, lady. :D I miss you!"

YET ANOTHER REASON i should watch "The Office." :)

Happy Birthday to my Sanja!

Sanja is the pretty girl on the left next to the pretty girl on the right (her little sis)
It's her Birthday. Actually it was yesterday :(
but in my defense, i try and not go online on le weekend. :)

I LOVE YOU SANJA! and I hope you had a fabulous birthday, as fabulous as you are, pretty birthday girl.

Sanja is my dearest friend, one I've had for years- we've shared stories over first kisses, we've talked on the phone, we've shared fashion, school, first heart-aches... about our periods... everything!- and yet... We have NEVER met.

the reason we've never met is because we are pen pals.
we'd share all our life's most important events thru hand-written letters.
Most times they were novels.

I found her in a music magazine in Germany when I was about 13 and we've kept in touch since... we turn 25 this year. :)

I love you Sanja! Happy Bday!
I am sooo thankful for your friendship.

I can't wait til one day we'll meet and lay out on the beaches in "my" italy, or we'll be drinking wine in "your" paris and smiling about how our lives turned out. *i still think you may get married before me. ha

besos xo
"always my #1 girl" that's what we always wrote each other. ;)
