Wanting to Know you Wens.

happy first of june lovies! summer is officially here and as i was reminded by Claire's blog post today, it's also the dreaded swimsuit season.

what kind of swimsuit will you be sporting at the pool/beach/backyard this summer?

i'm loving this 1950's bardot inspired bikini:

{it might actually make me look like i have a chest!} though i'm a two piece kind of girl, i love the vintage look of high waisted bottoms.

this was my bathing suit last year from j.crew's french inspired florals (high waist and ruffles? yes please!) but see the chest? i looked like a boy. My twin can't live without padded victoria secret tops.

so what kind of bathing suit do you love? boy shorts or tie string bikini? one piece or a one piece with cut-outs? what color do you usually like?(also include a link if you bought one online-- i'd love to see it!)

i also found a steal while thrifting this past weekend... a neon j.crew two piece, NEW WITH TAGS for $8.00. seriously, the bottoms had the hygiene protector sticker so it was legit. i'll show it off when i post about my other thrifting finds later this week (i hadn't been thrifting in ages!)

I'm with Twinkie on this one. I'm so flat-chested that the VS pads are almost necessary, lest I want to look like a boy. But I love the ruffles on your last year suit!

I am the queen of flat chests.. I still wear an A for crying out loud! I caved and bought a push-up/padded top from Hollister this year and paired it with a solid coral pink bottom from Asos.. but I've been sticking to my normal bandeau top and bikini bottoms.. but not the kind with side ties.. I HATE those on me! I like the idea of boy shorts but my thighs are too large for them :(

that purple Jcrew suit is AMAZING. I want it!! and I can't wait to see your new one :)

Ooooh, I love your bathing suit from last year! Although I have the opposite problem; my boobs would pop right outta that. :|

I am eager to see your new neon find. :) Can't believe you haven't sent me a pic yet!!

I'm sure it comes as no surprise that I'm not at all into vintage bathing suits. :) I have a black Ralph Lauren tankini that I bought several years ago that I STILL love! It has a halter top and an open back (from the back, it looks like a bikini, but there's a tankini panel in the front, if that makes sense).

I'm determined to get a new bathing suit this year and love it. I'm open to all kinds of suits: one piece, bikini, tankini. But I gotta get rid of this muffin top if I want to get into a bikini! My legs are pretty defined now, but my muffin top is still there :( And everyone in my family has thunder thighs, so no boyshorts for me.

Maddy, bandeau tops are my fave!!!

Claire, your black ralph lauren sounds sexy! and you know i love your thighs ha i'm sending you the pic where i tried on the bathing suit -- if only i had the courage to post it like some other bloggers! ;) LOVE YOU! and i'm SO PROUD of you and your SHRED! 14 days. 14 DAYS til i see you!!!

Swimsuit season!! Yay!!

I'd love to wear boy shorts, but I need to do some lunges and stair climbs first! ;)

Your ruffles are super cute, by the way!

thanks but no thanks! no bathing suit for me...not with this love handle on my waist! When needed I've always wore a one piece bikini and some shorts, but my boobs are looking down more now!

I'll be honest - I can definitely get away with a two-piece, but I just feel so self-conscious! So I usually go for the vintage-inspired one-piece suits. Modcloth has some adorable ones!

Yikes- bikini season already?? It seems like only yesterday I had the winter blues :)

Hmmmmm... I'm not ready!! I'm not sure what kind of bathing suit would be good for this body of mines :( Too many curves and too little material to cover it up - haha!!
I'm planning to change that though :P

I love your purple one from last year so retro and so you!! Oh, neon pink - muchacha caliente!!!!! You are fly girl and you will rock that bathing suit like no ones ever rocked one before!!

I love you soooooooooo much more than outer space and more than words can ever explain!!!! You are my beautiful sister and you mean the world to me, especially to have you rooting for me and to know you have my back no matter how big it is - hehe!!!

I love a bazillion times and just so you know I do love you more than Ferrer Rocher - Oh know she didn't!! Yes I went there!!!

:)
I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's still rainy and dreary here so it's hard to believe that summer is right around the corner! My suit is a two-piece but certainly no bikini. The top is a v-cut tankini with a wild pattern and the bottoms are a little longer than boy shorts in a solid color. That's about as bold as I get :p

When I think of bathing suits, I think UGH. But I GUESS I'd have to go with anything solid colored. Mostly black. I love black bikinis, they're very flattering.

Are you ready to cringe?? My bathing suit is a black one-piece that I've had for about 3-4 years now. Memorial Day was the first time I got in our pool this summer. With this job, there's no time. Sunday, though! I'll be laying out and swimming. In my ratty-ass old bathing suit.

I love vintage style swimmers (we call them togs here!). I have too many curves to love wearing them though. At the moment I have a black one piece with a semi-daring plunge at the front and some frilly ruffles! http://www.ozresort.com.au/images/ezpages/jets_expressions.jpg

yay! i love all the cute vintage suits out right now. i'll probably be wearing one i got last year from american eagle. it's so cute and 50's looking. i also have a j. crew suit, but i have to sew in an extra lining before i can wear it. turns out it was totally see through when it got wet! be ye warned. i like tops that have a shell to them - not super padded, but with a little something you know? that helps avoid the boy look.

Dearie,

I love 50's style swimsuits (one pieces). I've been wearing a leopard print one and red white and blue polka dotted one for the past 2 summers. This summer I went out and found a black one. I can't wait to wear it with the black vintage sun hat I found at an estate sale in Washinton and huge tortoise shell sunglasses.

hugs,

I love that purple floral suit! J Crew seriously has the cutest bathing suits! I ordered a cute bikini online from Victoria's Secret clearance and it fits PERFECTLY and is totally adorable. I'm very excited about it.

i'm a one-piece kind of a lady, i feel so much more confident with the coverage. it still took a while to get used to my legs being bared, but i love learning to not care. i think one-pieces with low backs are the loveliest!

ps: i think small chests look awesome in bathing suits!

This may sound really weird but I have the jcrew wildflower bikini bottoms too but missed out on the top. Do you still have yours and would you be willing to sell it?
