the sweetest thank-you i may ever have received.

remember those girly care packages i put together for 3 girls in my brother Marco's unit? My brother sent me this picture of SPC Angel Nunez. Isn't she cute?

i got two thank-you cards in the mail recently from her and another soldier. One of the girls named Reba wrote this about my brother: "Your brother is such a great person. I've never met anyone like him. He's almost like an older brother to me as well. He makes sure I'm taken care of, Always."

She closed her letter with, "I'm pretty sure you know how hard it is for us to get necessities out here. It takes weeks for mail to come in. And it's so dusty and dirty here. So again, thank you very much for the lovely scents of HOME!!"

the feeling i felt... well, i wish i could bottle it up. I'm pretty proud of you Marco. As much as I miss you, I know I will see you again and I know right now you are serving a bigger purpose.

*lovies, his birthday is February 22nd, so you still have time to help me (his little sister) out by sending him birthday wishes. Details here.

What a nice treat for the girls in Marco's unit, to get the scents and comforts of home... all from lovely you! Warms my heart.

I hope Marco is inundated with birthday greetings on Monday! I sent my card ages ago.

that is really so sweet of you!
I know that the troops are so grateful for gestures like that. Great idea!
My brother in law just arrived home an hour ago from Iraq to be here for the birth of his baby girl next week. Sadly, he has to go back in 10 days, which is going to be heart breaking for him and us.

Renee, that is HEARTBREAKING but I'm glad he gets to be there for her birth. I'm guessing he's coming home for his R&R? it's so hard to say goodbye again. ugh. My heart goes out to your family. xoxo

What a fantastic idea! I'd love to do something like that -- I'm sure everyone appreciates getting something a little special in the mail.

isn't crazy how they thank us... when really we should be laying down every day thanking them for the braveness & courage they have fighting for our freedom.

those care packages were absolutely sweet & i'm sure they adored them!

OMG, this "I'm pretty sure you know how hard it is for us to get necessities out here. It takes weeks for mail to come in. And it's so dusty and dirty here. So again, thank you very much for the lovely scents of HOME!!" brought tears to my eyes! When you posted about the packages you were sending these lady soldiers, I knew that was the effect it would have on them. So hang onto that feeling, because you did such a good thing.

I'm going to check out the details of sending your brother a card... it sucks to be away from home for your birthday.
