For my Momma's 60th Birthday

This is the add we are going to put in the newspaper to surprise her. We even requested they place it on the page before the word puzzle and scramble, which she does EVER DAY.

My momma always loved the story Cinderella, and jokes she IS a cinderella. :) Every time she tells us stories of her childhood, she always starts with, "Once upon a time, there was a little girl in the Philippines..."

I've been meaning to blog about this sundance indie winner. We went awhile back and absolutely loved it. It was the best impromptu date. I loved Emily Blunt in "The Jane Austen Club" and Amy Adams in "Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day" and they really really impressed me together on the big screen as sisters.

It would have to be believable because it is about sisters. I wished i had seen it with my seester. In fact, we have plans to see it-- i loved it that much.

Key parts that i loved if you've seen it, and i won't say enough if you haven't ;) for my favorite parts: Train and Questioning a Choice.

Go see "Sunshine Cleaning." You won't be disappointed.

Work has been busy busy busy this month!

I took this for the boy after a big road project FINALLY opened in my little Texas town. I held the ribbon like vanna white before the motorcycle cops drove through and marked the grand opening. Now everyone can get to Walmart faster from the main street. I know, right?

Happy Administrative Professionals Day!

As you know, I work in PR and I had no idea people actually celebrated the holiday formally known as Secretary's Day. This morning, my brother Marco texted me to wish me that, along with Earth Day.

When I got to work, I had flowers delivered as a joke (but sweet joke) from my sweet friends-orchestrated by my BFF Maria. One time when me, Maria, and Erik were walking around the lake, Erik was asking me what I did. Maria said, "You're a secretary" and I tried telling her that I did more than that but she goes, "Do you answer phones?" ha. She was joking but I got offended :)

So today, they surprised me with flowers as a peace offering and to make my day. :) My boss was like, "You aren't a secretary!" still, maybe my boss felt bad she didn't get me anything because she came back from lunch with a notebook pad with my initial. :) I felt LOVED today.

IT TOTALLY CAUGHT ME OFF-GUARD!!! REALLY! which was the best! I have honestly never been surprised, but I was surprised nicely today. The best feeling!

This weekend i had TONS of fun out by Lake Grapevine and in Addison with the birthday girl, the beautiful model friend of mine, Nakita. I mean look at her!!!

there was some drinking involved... ;)

non-stop partying as soon as we got there at 8pm.
Nakita was my older sister's best friend in high school. I can remember her coming over when I was in 2nd grade. Who would have thought that she would fly down from Washington to spend her birthday weekend with me years later? :) it's because we're family.

Seven Pounds. *SPOILER ALERT

we FINALLY saw this movie last week, after a million times trying to go see it while it was out at the cinema. Something always came up, so I had been dying to see it for awhile. I loved it.

I don't want to spoil it for any of you who haven't seen it yet (and why haven't you!?) but i loved Rosario's character (she had a vegetarian dog too!!! i wanted to make maverick one ha).

I loved when she called Will Smith's character, Ben, from her hospital bed because she couldn't sleep.

Two parts really pulled at my heart. "What are the chances?" -- he was so desperate to hear something else. I was too.

But my favorite part... my favorite part is "the what if game."

Picture Friday.

On Mondays, me, Lauren, and Marianne all exchange our favorite PostSecret from Sunday. We're each at our jobs, emailing back and forth. Throughout the week, it's the latest celeb gossip/email joke. "Do we like Rhianna's new tattoo? yay or nay?" That sort of thing.

On Fridays, Lauren started "Picture Friday" where we send a pic of ourselves from our phones. We are silly, but you can be silly with gfs :) and esp. on FRIDAY!!!

I dream of Italia...

After a lovely lunch at our Gidgets (our fave sandwich shop downtown), me and Max decided to make an impromptu visit over to a charming antique store in the world's littlest skyskraper. (It's true, my town has it-- take a look! kinda interesting).

We came across this and I was in awe. He loved it too.

It was beautiful art right in front of me. When we saw the price, we couldn't believe what a steal! $25. Framed and everything. It could pass as Spain or Mexico [if you look closely, a man has a hat on that looks like these countries] but to me- it reminds me of Italy. I walked across and daydreamed of the boy i fell in love with the summer i was 19 on a very bridge just like that in Florence. It feels like a lifetime ago.

In this life, my Darling Friend hung it up for me at Casa di M and it's perfect. Just like our lunch was, just like this beautiful piece of art we both were thrilled to find!

When I'm at an antique store...

I ALWAYS file through that one tin can you know you'll find, full of old pictures. You know the one. It's weird to think, how did these people's pictures -their lives- end up here? It's kind of sad too.

What I always look for is old pictures of couples together. I wonder about their love story. I found this one yesterday.

Look at this darling old couple. I wonder if they spent all their lives with each other...
What secrets to relationships/marriage they would give.
I'd ask them what the hardest challenge they faced together- and more importantly, how they got through it together.

Yes, I wonder all this just from their portrait.

Our pretty easter eggs turned into...

God Eggs, as my Momma calls them :)

they were yummy!!! and darling friend had them ready for me when I got off of work. :) He has them devided because I don't like relish, and he remembered... unlike the artichoke ordeal we had a few weeks ago >:) ha

we've been cooking together lately (very domestic, i love it). He makes the vegetarian girl i am smile, because he actually likes the soy grounds for our tacos or in our spaghetti sauce. Tuesday, we made chili dogs with organic chili (yummy!!!) and soy dogs with mustard (minus the cheese. I was good) and watched "7 Pounds" with the AMAZING Will Smith. We loved it. I'm pretty sure Rosario Dawson is my new girl crush...

My pappa is one of those parents that puts us children's accolades in the news paper. He NEVER tells us he's going to do it, just waits for us to be surprised. :) it's sweet really.

My brother Marco just got a promotion. Since my older siblings (including him) don't live in our town, I made this sign at work and scanned it for all of them. :)

Marriage... I don't know what to think about it.

I always thought at 25 I'd already be a wifey and perhaps with child. This was the reason it was SUCH my "scary age."

I always joked that maybe I was meant to be "lovers for life." It works for Goldie & Kurt Russell. Look at Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. Still together, sans any wedding bells/rings.

And after nearly 30 years of marriage, Mel Gibson is going to be on the market. The news of this SHOCKED me.

HAPPY EASTER WEEKEND!!!

I'm not a fan of the restaurant, but let me tell you- their new lunch special may have converted me. Chips and the best kinda salsa/endless VEGETARIAN southwestern style soup/caesar salad. My tummy was happy!!!!

Then i had to go back to work, while he got to go play with the puppies.

I wanted to be with them. :(

SO HAPPINESS when my boss just said I could go home at 3:30!!! *happy Micaela!!! and that was oh, a minute ago... so I am out!!! :) i just wanted to wish you lovies a VERY HAPPY EASTER!!! and to remember what the holiday is TRULY about. *Thanks Jesus!!!!

My Easter Surprise! :)

My sweet office friend Betty surprised me with this lovely sugar egg decoration she made. I was extremely touched. I mean, look at the intricate work it took to make such a sweet thing!

If you look inside, you see bunnies playing in the green grass & flowers. I say my bunnies are having a tea party :)

It's absolutely darling, as she is. And it made my friday morning!!!!

ps. because she knows me, she joked that since I can't eat it-- she gave me a minnie bag of m&m's :) m&m's... MY FAVE!
